We’re living in a class war where people are living to paycheck to paycheck. it’s important to have these discussions. The first step to create actions is to start conversations and wake people up. It is so dystopian to me to see people bitching in those comments like spoiled children over the cancelled announcement, when some people have lost everything this week. One person was pissed because she “took the day off work for this announcement”. The tone deafness just made me embarrassed to be Hive. We are all a little disappointed but how can you be so low that you can’t see there’s bigger issues right now and in a month or two we’ll have the announcement anyway. I am so disappointed in the reaction like posting the lyrics from yaya about wildfire burning houses down in Beyoncés comments like ew. I live one neighborhood away from the fire zone and I’m devastated for those that lost their homes and everything that they’ve worked hard for. Its a nightmare I don’t wish on anyone. Not everything can be replaceable, and i feel incredibly bad. The sky was blood red for days, the smell was horrific, Our cars were covered in ash. Debris everywhere due to the winds. We were sitting and waiting to see if we were gonna be the next evacuees. It’s been a nightmare. I think it’s very funny the way people who are not from Los Angeles , hell people who are not even from California are giving their think pieces and “hot takes” on a situation that they don’t and never will understand. Hearing things like “no one cares that rich people lost their homes” is not the gag they think it is. It was not just rich people that lost their homes by the way. Working class families also lost their homes. Small business owners lost their homes. There are now hundreds of displaced black families because of the devastation . I’m so tired of people who aren’t from here thinking Los Angeles is some La La Land Hollywood town and that’s it. California is the most populated state in this country. There is more to California outside of Los Angeles. Also, we’re in this eat the rich era right now so its not surprising ppl are on there virtue signaling bullshit. By the way, I think a lot of people don’t understand how the entertainment industry works and it’s very telling. They think that every actor is getting paid $50-$60 million per picture. In what world??? Most actors, yes even the very famous ones are working actors. They are freelancers and if they don’t get work, they are on their way to being on the street. Not all of them are as as wealthy as you think they are. And for the ones that are more well off, they still do not deserve it. No matter the profession, people who have nice homes, especially people who worked really hard for years to get to where they got to, and are now enjoying the fruits of their labor, don’t deserve to lose their homes either. The jealousy and the bitterness is very prevalent when I see the way people talk about those in better financial privileges than them. Get your money up Clive 🤷♀️ . Anyone that works hard all their life , no matter the socioeconomic status they have, doesnt deserve to have their house burnt down Los Angeles is full of many working people from doctors to lawyers, engineers, waitresses, regular office desk folks , and more. I’m really starting to see that people are blurring the lines when it comes to what true wealth is. A doctor is two paychecks away from poverty if he loses his job today. Most people , cant just up and buy a new home. So to see the lack of sympathy from people is outstanding but not surprising. And the other half making this fire a political thing, particularly the red states making it political, is even sillier , considering these same red states leach off of California at the end of every single year , because these red states have no money. We have the fifth strongest economy in the world and we are the most populated state in the country yet our state lives rent free and these racist/Maga heads minds. They couldn’t afford to live here even if they wanted to. Not to mention the religious folks who are now spewing “ end times” messages all over again. While hateful people online are talking about how awful LA is and why we deserve what we’re going through, Our community, my neighbors, we are giving back . The donation centers are OVERFILLED. People are volunteering left, and right to help out anyway they can. People are in service to each other here . I’ve never seen more people come together more than ever before before these past few days, and this is coming from someone who also lived in the south and the East Coast. My mom’s childhood/family home was set on fire when she was a teen and they lost everything! I’ve never seen pictures of my mom and grandma when they were younger bc everything was lost. Family members died and some physically injured for life trying to escape the fire.

A few years ago, a fire broke out in the brush behind my house (lightning strike), and the way it traveled so quickly was scary and surreal to witness. Thank goodness firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before causing any damage to the homes in my neighborhood. 2. The other day the winds were so strong, that when I went to reinforce my front door, all I could think about was what an unbelievable nightmare it would be if those winds were accompanied by a rush of scorching flames, like in CA. Maybe it’s because I live on an island that experiences hurricanes every year, and witnessing Mother Nature’s wrath firsthand makes me empathetic to the people who experience disasters, but I 100% agree with Kenya, regarding the lack of empathy. You really have to be very miserable and unfulfilled to think that someone with popularity or more money than you deserves to lose their home in a disaster. As grumpy as I can be on the daily, I always try to recognise my privileges. You never know if today will be the last day you are able-bodied, have a roof over your head, or food to eat.
