oh and then my brothers wedding was just both side’s immediate family at the courthouse, then professional photographer at a rose garden, and a reserved table at a scenic restaurant. THAT was what ‘un-catered-to-but-respectful-of-guests’ should look like. they told us up front it would be traveling all over the city and a long day and we respected that as they respected us!

2024-08-01 13:17:42 +0000 UTCYES!!! all of this!!! the BEST wedding i ever went to was in a PARK!!! my extended family has a LOT of kids who had to travel, so the day before, all the kids had a crafting party to color and make paper fans to hand out. and then day-of, there was a beaded necklace station while we all waited for the ceremony, which was BEAUTIFUL. then we had a cookout in the park (with alcohol but also plenty of water, soda, good food) fantastic, no notes, wonderful celebration of 2 families uniting. it was a very low cost from what ive heard but a highly thoughtful event! what pushed it over the edge was they arranged for vans to take the late-partiers of the fam to a karaoke place with drinks already prepaid for the afterparty! the ONLY thing they asked of guests was to wear loud bright florals and if any locals could bring coolers. -i would never knock the glam girlies, they also had beautiful *weddings* but that was hands down the best reception ive ever been to in my life, a lot of us adults also made fans and necklaces we still have LMAO
