uncut- Mission Impossible – Fallout

I don't know how I feel about this one. I will pat my back, I was always sus of Henry Cavil but was also happy to see him in a badguy role, and that could only happen with a leading actor like Tom Cruise as the hero. Placing Walker with the team and trusting him to get it done didn't make much sense. The CIA's Special Activity teams were revealed early on to not be getting the job done. And the whole "Do we really need an IMF plot?" is wearing thin - or at least the doubt in Ethan Hunt's character. You had it in the first movie, and then again in the fourth and fifth. You higher up officials have access to all his missions, how many times does one guy have to prove himself? So when Walker showed that Director Lady the phone he recovered (the same phone that was cracked in the bathroom fight) all nice and pristine, and his explanation on why Hunt had turned. The phone was a dead giveaway but also his speech about why someone like Ethan would lose faith in his work and his country, I think that was the reason why Walker turned. We lost the focus of the main plot at the end with both love interests present at the same time, but I'm happy with its resolution. Julia is helping the world how she can with someone who makes her happy. And can Ethan FINALLY have someone who can keep up with his spy life? He needs to start training a new Ethan Hunt and it isn't Benji. Either this franchise ends with him dying or stepping back, running the team with Ilsa (Elsa?) by his side, while someone else plays with helicopters and plays Batman jump from rooftop to rooftop. Like he's 56 when this came out, where's the next younger Ethan Hunt like who we saw in the first film? He needs to train someone to eventually take his place. My first time seeing this film and always a pleasure to watch it alongside Mary.
