This movie, I feel like the real villain was Ethan not having government support. And even their gadgets and comms kept going wrong. I got to the point where I was expecting it. And then there were the milktoast bad guys who seemed to be the ones with the plot armor this time, which is fine. But a hero is only as good as their villain and the first three movies each had a stand out villain. I feel the only thing standing out about them was their plot armor. I did like seeing the ending where Ethan was handing them their assignments, and was so happy to see Luther if only as a cameo this time. If I had to rank them? 1 then 2, and 3 with a slight edge over this one. 3 showed us he could have a happily ever after if he wanted and while he only had ten minutes of screen time, Philip Seymour Hoffman was such a terrific villain.

2025-08-14 14:07:10 +0000 UTCI remember watching the Tom Cruise window climbing scene in theaters and feeling a little bit of vertigo. That was such a scary scene. Also I feel bad for the Secretary of the IMF, he's only in the movie for a couple minutes but you immediately know he's a good guy.
