The thing about Forrest Gump is that it appeals to the masses. I think that's why it's so beloved and talked about more. Pulp Fiction is a great movie but you kind of have to be a Tarantino fan to truly love it. And Shawshank is great too but the setting and pacing of the film might not be for everyone.

Had the privilege of being able to work with Gary Sinise (LT. Dan) at a couple of charity events in the past. He’s a great guy who does amazing things for the Veteran community in the states.

I remember my parents buying this on VHS and watching it with them. I enjoyed back then and still now. What I like about the film and the Forrest Gump character in general is that he never felt sorry for himself and went out to the world without fear which are my favorite type of characters in films. Sure, he punched a couple of people along his journey but in his defense, they deserved it lol back to the point about characters without fear, I also enjoy if that character does have fear, they eventually overcome it. Great movie, great reaction and review like always. Glad you enjoyed it Mary 😊

This is going to be unpopular opinion, but I think this movie is good, not great. I personally believe “Pulp Fiction” and “The Shawshank Redemption” are better movies. I love the soundtrack. One of my favorites. But to me the real romance or bromance is between Forrest and Lieutenant Dan. Dan is the most interesting character in the movie and his arc is the most compelling. Jenny is a hot mess and constantly rejects Forrest throughout the movie, then finally sleeps with him, and bolts out the door. She finally comes around, but then it’s too late. I never really liked the character. I’m sorry. I love the scene where Dan sticks up for Forrest when the woman calls Forrest stupid. Dan can call him that, but don’t let anyone else do it. The scene where Dan thanks Forrest for saving his life is another one of my favorites. Gary Sinise deserved an Oscar for this.

Tom Hanks on The Graham Norton Show several years back explains how the accent for Forrest Gump came about. The accent we hear is actually the accent of the child actor who played young Forrest. I think it’s really cool how Tom adopted his accent and made it Forrests.

You are absolutely right, and I even commented on her reaction; getting old sucks; I can't remember sh*t! I shouldn't have looked under search posts; they never tell the truth.

Mary has already reacted to The Green Mile. It was a good reaction.

I was fortunate enough to have seen this movie in the theater the year it came out, I was a teenager and that year , 1994 had to this day some of the greatest movies I have ever seen . It was also the year of The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction and Legends of the Fall. You asked about the guy wiping his face on the t-shirt. The yellow “Have a nice day” smiley face t-shirt was popular during the 70s and 80s. I still see some to this day every once in a while. It was just part of the running gag in the movie where Forrest is credited with either helping discover something or being part of a historical event.

I was really surprised that you haven't seen this. This is one of those movies that pulls at your heartstrings no matter how many times you've seen it. Jenny was a free bird that was caged in her emotional trauma. Poor Forrest never gave up on her, and I'm sure he never understood why she was the way she was. I was surprised that you didn't recognize Haley Joel Osment from The Sixth Sense, and then I looked and saw that you hadn't reacted to that movie. If you haven't ever seen it, you must. And then I looked at the list of movies you have seen. Here are some of the most popular movies on IMDb that you need to see: The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Se7en, Schindler's List, and 12 Angry Men. I have sent you a message a few times about some movies you can't go wrong with. This was a great reaction, Mary.

If you're looking for more Tom Hanks movies to watch then I recommend The Burbs (1989). It's a classic!
