In eight years, in addition to the three movies you mentioned, he also directed This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, and When Harry Met Sally. And then... oh well. The dense dialogue you brought up is courtesy of screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, most famous for The West Wing.
