DigiLuxe Video Update

Hello, I hope you've all been well.

The first half of the animation is done! So far there is 2 minutes and 45 seconds of edited animation :)

I've also started working on the soundtrack and that has been coming along nicely.

The image above shows a sneak peak of the second half of the video.

I hope to finish this project in the coming months, so I can focus on more experimental projects in between my studies.

All the best.

DigiLuxe Video Update

Hello!

I've been continuing to work hard on the next video.

Many elements in this animation have gone through lots of refinement. It's interesting to see where things were at the end of last year, compared to now.

For example:

Render from 22/12/2020

Render from 11/06/21

New DigiLuxe SoundCloud page!

Hello, I hope everyone has been doing well.

I've been making some tunes for fun.

I'd like to share these with you, so there is a new DigiLuxe SoundCloud page which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/digiluxe

Currently there is one demo on there, with another one coming soon.

Happy listening!

All the best.

DigiLuxe Video Update

Hey, I hope everyone's been doing okay!

I've been well, and have continued to work on the next video in my free time.

Here are some stills that I've been excited to share with you, which are much more representative of how the final video will look.

If I were to walk around the halls at DigiLuxe, I'd like to think it would:

  • look outdated, but funky
  • have eclectic but arguably tacky decor
  • impractical design choices View Post

Wallpapers

Hello! I hope everyone is doing okay.

Here are some wallpapers from my experiments with Bryce 7.1! I've made them very big so they should fit lots of different monitor sizes, however, let me know if you'd like one in a different resolution.

Stay safe, all the best!

DigiLuxe Video Update

Hello, I hope you've all been doing well!

I've been continuing to work on the next DigiLuxe video in my free time, and I'd like to tell you a bit about it.

This video features The Employee and takes place right after "Welcome to the DigiLuxe System" ( https://youtu.be/bGH2F9CPLzI ). It will contextualise DigiLuxe, and what they as a company create.

'Afterlife' Song Behind the Scenes | DigiLuxe Sound Department

I was asked by a patron how I achieved the sound.

The song 'Afterlife' is made up of samples from the song featured in ‘Information Superhighway’.

I bounced a version of ‘Information Superhighway’ without any percussion and reversed the audio so it would sound ‘dreamlike’. (Attached to post)

I then cut up the song, looking for usable chunks of audio that could be re-arranged and transposed to create a new song.

The samples are cross-faded so they can ...

Behind the Scenes character rework

Hello!

I've been working on Employee 11072019, who will appear in the next DigiLuxe video.

The first thing I had to do was to learn about retopology. This is because the resolution of the original mesh I sculpted for their first appearance was far too high to be used for rigging and animation.

Original high resolution mesh seen in "Welcome to the DigiLuxe System":

Retopologize...

IMPORTANT DigiLuxe Patreon Update

Hello all, I hope you are doing well! This Patreon page turns one year old today! Regardless of how long you've been a part of the DigiLuxe System, I thank you so much for your support.

I won't be able to dedicate as much time to DigiLuxe as I have up until now because I will be enrolling in university. So I want to make a few updates to the Patreon page to appropriately adjust for the coming future.

DigiLuxe is something that brings me great joy, and something I will be continuin...

Unused Render

Hello! I hope you're all doing well. A new video is coming out very soon, but in the meantime I'd like to show you this.

This is an early test render of a scene which was later changed to better fit with the rest of the video. Please enjoy!

Sneak peek!

Hello there, I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to share some sneak peeks of the video I have been working on.

I have also been working hard on a plan for the next video, which I am very excited to start making hopefully soon, as well as share some more details on it when the times comes!

Take care of yourself, stay safe, and have a good one :)!

Alien Spaceship Corridor

These pictures show the development of an alien spaceship corridor which will feature in the next video which I have been working flat out on through the month of May.

This will be the last time I use the Cycles render engine for a while, as with my current hardware, rendering takes too long, and is impractical for me to use for animation. (The final render of this scene takes 15-20 minutes per frame, of which there are four hundred and twenty of them!)

Xbox 720 Controller Model Development

This "Xbox 720" controller is heavily inspired by the original Xbox "The Duke" controller. This controller I modelled is a blank canvas where I will be adding lots of features to it, turning it into my impression of what a 720 controller could have been like.

I hope everyone is staying safe and is doing well.

Video collaboration with Rowlo has been uploaded!

It's been a great learning experience working with someone else to make a video. We both worked well together and hopefully can use what we learned making this video to make something else together in the future!

In the meantime, I've got more stories I want to show you.

Character Design Development

In the last couple of months I have been working on a video with Rowlo (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqkdKDPPc66lzDYCTktKQYg)

St. Nick Progress GIF

HO HO HO! It's Christmas time!

I had a lot of fun making all the elements for the Christmas video, "A Message from the 'Big Man', Father Christmas Himself."

It's always gratifying sculpting a new character head, I feel like I'm slowly getting better! I like how after the basic form is made, I can start to register that I'm looking at a face. Every lump, bump and shape makes me feel like they're beginning to express subtle emotion, like they're feelin...

Skeleton Model Progress GIF

Coming into October, a spooky video was the obvious choice; and for a spooky video, you need a spooky skeleton!

I wanted to strike a balance between realistic and cartoonish to achieve the right tone for the video. With render times in mind it was important to be selective on how I represented the many parts of our complicated human skeleton; this also helped define the realism/cartoonish balance.

The ribcage was the hardest part to model, ...
