The outcome of the battle of Rook's Rest was the same in the book but the battle itself and the planning were completely different. The show version makes Aegon, Aemond and Rhaenys look stupid. The trap included both Aemond and Aegon from the beginning agaisnt any dragon Team Black might send. Aegon isn't as useless as they're trying to portray him in the show and he's not stupid. When Rhaenys arrived on Meleys, both Vhagar and Sunfyre appeared to fight against Meleys. It's true Rhaenys didn't flee, but she didn't turn back twice, especially not after Sunfyre and Aegon fell, because she wouldn't have had the chance anyway. Aemond didn't betray his brother. At one point during the battle, Meleys had her jaws around Sunfyre's neck and that's when Vhagar fell upon them from above and all 3 dragons went to the ground. As I already mentioned, the outcome was the same in regards to who died, who was injured. But Aemond didn't commit treason, he was loyal to his brother. It would also be really stupid to eliminate the only other available dragon and dragon rider in King's Landing. Helaena has Dreamfyre, who is big, but after Blood & Cheese, Helaena was so depressed, she wouldn't even get out of her room.
