The Next Karate Kid (fourth karate kid film) is decent but was kind of a Karate Kid reboot with Miagi with another kid (a young Hilary Swank) that never picked up momentum for a sequel, and honestly the Jaden Smith Karate Kid is better than the Next Karate Kid. Also, the sixth and final season of Cobra Kai comes out this year.

2023-05-27 04:05:20 +0000 UTCThis is the only “Karate Kid” movie I saw in the movie theater. I saw it with my Mom and my sister in the summer of 1986. I was 14. (Do the math. I’m old). 😉 “Karate Kid III” is a lot like “Rocky V”. Both are mostly panned and arguably the weakest of the series, but most definitely not a bad film. And, there are plot points in the third film and the previous two which will come back again in “Cobra Kai”. Mary, it warms my heart how much you’re digging these movies from the 1980s. I think it’s a testament to their greatness and how that decade was such a joyous time to be alive.
