remember the movie showed the trojan was in two like 2 days,,,, but actually the war lasted 10 years. Acording to the Greeks it started with a fight between the godessess Athena and Aphrodite on who was more beautiful, The Illiad by Homer talks about the war, which was reading when I was in school, but the book is very frank about the horrors of war ( men getting speared in the face and many other horrific battle wounds) Since Odysseus angered Posidon by making the Trojan horse, and made him lost on his way to go home (rad Homer;s Odeyssey) by the way Ajax and Agamemnon did survive the war but died on the way home.

Enjoying the collab Mary. I look forward to next week's video drop. Sadly, I have to say this collab does shine a light on the growing failure of the world's educational systems. Like most Gen X-ers I learned my history by watching movies and not reading books unless they came in the form of a floppy comic book. I did read a comic book in the 70s as a kid about the Iliad. It was no Batman or Spiderman but I was told it was a true story as a child and that's all it took to make me a fan. There is nothing more powerful then lying to a child. It's what makes the world go round. Having never read The LLiad myself, I still know the basic stories of Troy and the myths of Achilles from school, watching movies with my dad, comic books, and video games. Growing up in the 80s had its perks. I feel they need to show more movies like this to the kids in high school today to help correct this failure. I think you and Ash are doing fine work in getting millennials like yourself to learn about our make-believe history by watching movies filtered through the lens of Hollywood. It's like you're doing gods work. Not that I'm saying the ILIAD is 100% made up. I just think Homer was the Hollywood Exec of his time and if he could there would have been a Tony Stark character in his story. Now the best part of this part one watch along was the first Achilles fight and your reaction. It's why I'm here. After Bratty Brad sticks that man with the full of his sword right up to the hilt. Where the tip of his blade most likely touched his butt hole. You were like " Do you think he hit a major artery in his back or something? I'm laughing to myself and thinking yeah, I think he cut the artery that was under his Lungs, Heart and Liver. Yeah, he cut the Major Artery by his butt hole Mary and that's what killed him. (I've had moments like that myself. Us pretty people need to stick together. Ash would agree with me.) Mary, I'm really looking forward to rewatching millions of movie hours with you on Patreon. I'm hoping for more Major Butt Hole moments in your reactions. hehehehe Something tells me I won't be disappointed.

There's very few films that will make me subscribe automatically to a reactor, The Godfather, Scarface and Troy are automatic subscriptions for me lol plus you have Mrs Burton with you and honey I shrunk the kids is the cherry on top 🙏 worth every penny lol

It’s an older film, but I think you would enjoy “Clash of the Titans” (1981). I watched the remake in the theater in 2010 and was disappointed. The original is much better and it got me interested in Greek mythology. Really think you’d like it, Mary. 👍🍒

"Sing, O goddess, the anger of Achilles son of Peleus, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans. Many a brave soul did it send hurrying down to Hades, and many a hero did it yield a prey to dogs and vultures." The Iliad can be pretty dense but it really is an incredible story if you ever have time and interest to read it or a summary of it. Loved these collab reactions, and glad it seemed like you both enjoyed Troy!

There were so many good jokes from both of you two in this, especially when Hector says goodbye to Paris and says, "You're a prince of Troy," and Mary's like "That's not a goodbye, that's a statement of fact!" Also I liked the line, "Well, he's with the boatman now." I forget whether Ashleigh or Mary said that, but that was hilarious. The coin's on the eyes are the toll for the boatman to ferry them to the underworld. Sean Bean survives the movie too! He played King Odysseus of Ithaca, Greece. I felt like he was the one of the few Greek characters that wasn't terrible, even Achilles liked him and Achilles hated kings in the movie. So Homer's second poem is called "The Odyssey" and it's about Odysseus (Sean Bean's character) trying to get home for years because the Gods keep messing with him. "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" is loosely based on the Odyssey. George Clooney's character was Odysseus essentially. Anyway these collabs are great. This was very fun. Thanks Mary.

Too cool! Looking forward to seeing this. Hope to see more of these collabs in the future. Would love to see you and Natalie Gold do a movie together and my dream is to see you and Sweet Anita do Twitch together.

Eric Bana: he was in Hulk Helen of Troy is known as "the face that launched a thousand ships" Achilles: In mythology his mother bathed him in the River Styx to make him unbeatable in battle but had to hold him by the heels, making them his only weak point. This is why we use the term "Achilles' Heel"
