Ronny Cox started out playing good guys. Only later did he start getting cast as villains. Similar to Willem Dafoe. My friends and I jokingly say youβll rarely see a Dafoe movie on before midnight. LOL

Watched this tonight, Mary. Really enjoyed it. I made popcorn this evening whilst watching it. The soundtrack is phenomenal. Bronson Pinchot who plays Serge later appeared on a successful sitcom here called βPerfect Strangersβ.
The waiter who delivers the food to the cops is Freddie from βThe Karate Kidβ from the apartment complex. The one Daniel accidentally kicks who befriends him at first then no longer wants to after the beach fight.
In many of the scenes, the other actors try not to laugh when Eddie Murphy is talking. He improvised a lot of his lines.

This was the first time I've seen this movie all the way through. This was awesome. I've seen parts of it on tv as a kid in the 1990s or youtube clips recently but this was the first time I watched the whole thing.
Also Mary the guy who played the LA police Lieutenant Bogomil played the bad guy in Robocop. Ronny Cox played the evil corporate vice-CEO guy of the OCP corporation. It's so weird seeing Ronny Cox play a good guy after growing up watching Robocop.

Little fun fact, the foul-mouthed police inspector was not an actor but an actual detective and police commander in Detroit, he was supposedly kind of a legend actually, tough no bullshit cop with a reputation for getting tough confessions, but not without some controversy.
You definitely have to check out more Eddie Murphy movies, lots of great ones from the 48 Hours movies, to this franchise, Trading Places, Coming To America, Bowfinger (I haven't actually seen that but I've heard it was funny), and probably my favorite, with Martin Lawrence in LIFE. After that, with the exception of the Shrek movies, his career kind of fell off, but I hear he's making a comeback and there's even another Beverly Hills Cop movie potentially in the works.
He also had a lot of hilarious skits when he was on SNL, I think they're still funny.
One last little fun fact, the gangster guy who kills Mikey is the same actor who plays Mike in Breaking Bad, Jonathan Banks, a character actor in a ton of 80s movies, including Armed and Dangerous with John Candy and Eugene Levy.

By the way, the actor that played Billy, Judge Reinhold, was also Neil from The Santa Clause franchise and the actor that played Jeffrey, Paul Reiser, is Miles Tellerβs father from Whiplash and Dr. Owens from Stranger Things.

I love the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. Axel Foley is one of my top five favorite film characters. Definitely react to the full franchise 3 one is the lesser of the three films, but Eddie Murphy is just amazing playing Axel in all three. Also, Eddie is currently filming Beverly Hills Cop 4 right now and Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot are back as Billy, Taggert, Jeffrey, and Serge. They also added Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to the cast as well. It will be released on Netflix either this year or next. Canβt wait.

Wise move avoiding the Butch Cassidy spoiler! The actor who plays Billy has a good part in an 80βs teen comedy you might like β Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Looking forward to seeing this later tonight! This is such a funny and fun action/comedy. Fun fact: this was originally written for Sylvester Stallone. He said he left the project because he didn't think audiences would accept him as a naive, fish-out-of-water cop who was new to the lifestyle of Beverly Hills. He also didn't like the inclusion of comedy and didn't feel he was suited for it.
