After I read that you apparently didn't really like this movie, I was unsure wether I wanted to watch your reaction, because I really loved this movie. I also watched the Mel Gibson ones, but there was a longer timespan before I watched the new one. I have to say for me this is the perfect example for how a sequel should look like. I loved Tom Hardy acting of the totally broken Max. After watching Fury Road I even had a problem with Mel Gibson first, but here is the thing... they are just really different personalities, which is not suprising when looking at what happened. So actually Fury Road was the movie that totally made me fall in love with Tom Hardy, because I just liked the character development of him, but I see that it is really subtle in a very primitive world with pure survival being the number one problem. I also have to say that Fury Road goes for me into history as the number one pure action movie. Watching this movie in cinema was an experience I never had before and since. Also there are some things that you missed, I guess this is kind of natural when expecting a different movie and looking for hints of that different movie :D for example Cheedo wasn't going to give herself again, but wanted to help Furiosa.

Imagine ranking this behind 2 and 3. Ridiculous.

I also subbed for this reaction and absolutely LOVE this movie. But I did just make the mistake of reading this comment before watching this reaction. Guess I'll give her Road Warrior reaction a watch then unsub. Ah well. Life aint all roses out on these Reactor streets.

Oh it's so sad, that it wasn't quite your cup of tea. But I guess some people were just expecting a different thing, so did you. I've noticed you weren't really invested in this film from the beginning, by looking away, doing some other stuff, despite the intense scenes on the screen. That is okay, I guess. I think the previous movies affected you in a way and created a picture of what Max is. But this movie is not a continuation as you know, it's a different one, just the same world. Personally, when I was watching it for the first time, I couldn't blink it was so intense and I didn't wanna miss a thing and there are a lot of details to look for. As some lads here already pointed out, the film is a masterpiece from the visual point of view, sadly you didn't really felt it. In a nutshell, it is a 48-hour depiction of a world, rich world. My anticipation of your reaction was too high, and it ended this way 🙃. Thanks for the reaction anyway, subbed only for this one.

thanks for all your respecful thoughts <3

I respect your opinion on this Mary. I love this movie, but it's essentially a 2 hour car chase movie, so it's not going to be everyone's favorite. I like the honesty. I also miss Mel. Mel's Max had a bit more fun and humor, he still had sadness and trauma but there still was some happiness in there which was missing from Tom Hardy. Also it's pretty cool that Mel did a somewhat convincing Australian accent. I'm not sure how convincing Tom Hardy's accent was. Now some trivia. When they filmed the big "War Rig" crash at the end of the movie George Miller the director thought that the stunt driver had died in the stunt because he saw a head detach from a body. The stunt driver was perfectly fine, Millar saw the head fall off the fake dummy dressed as "Nux" and thought it was a real person dying. Everybody was fine, but for a few seconds George Millar was freaking out. Also the actor who plays Immorten Joe is the same actor as Toecutter, the big bad of the first Mad Max movie.

I guess I can chalk this up to the first time I heard somebody say they didnt really like this film all things considered and the first time im going to disagree with your review of the film, respectively. Everybody who worked on this movie, absolutely loved making It, a very amazing reimagining of Mad Max. It deserves its 10 Oscar Awards xD. The acting, the art design, and the color grading were all just perfect. Though definitely a very unpopular opinion to say you didnt like this Max or the color grading. It was expert level color grading and it was amazing, hell it even got an oscar for best visual effects. I think you are the only reactor or anybody ive actually heard, who dont like these choices lol, but to each their own. we all have our own perspectives on what is good or isnt. Im honestly kinda shocked you didnt like those aspects and ranked this movie as low as you did, especially behind that shitty 3rd movie (which is actually statistically the worst one and most mad max fans least favorite for good reason) compared to the others. Yeah people will definitely get annoyed in the comments based on your ranking of this film alone, so its going to be fun to see that XD I wouldnt use "oversaturated" to describe how the color grading was as I think you get oversaturation confused with something else? Fury road actually used rich/vibrant 1980s movie palettes combined with modern cinema cameras, but there is no oversaturation in this film at all other than with some of the explosions. Fury Road is 10/10 just art and acting masterpiece and the direction they took with Max character was brilliant. I respect your opinion but 100% disagree with it as your review comes from not understanding the art direction and why it was important for Max to be a silent protagonist in this remagined take on this world.

Maybe an unpopular opinion on an unpopular opinion, but I think your critique isn't too off the mark. The skill of the production outshines some of the weaknesses of this film. I realized one of the things that bothered me about this one that I couldn't articulate until re-watching these films with Mary's reactions: this Max, while still being a protector, is lacking a paternal role.

Matthew

I can only agree! Mary's finally arrived at possibly the best action movie ever made!

Henkan

Oh hell yes.
