2022-05-06 13:10:41 +0000 UTCWhat an epic show this is! Some of the characters in this are legendary. In the show and literally. I won't say which because it may make you expect them to survive the show, but several of the characters are based on historical pirates and while the story is fiction it's very much threaded around historical events and characters and stuff. Nassau was a very real pirate haven. As well as that, some characters are based on characters in Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson since this is a prequel to (though you don't need to know anything about it, its an interesting thing to read about afterward). So some fictional legendary characters mixed with real historical legends, and this show is just fire! First season isn't really slow, its awesome, however I think it takes until toward the end of S1 / S2 somewhere for it to reach its true greatness. This is going to be a ride!
