Albert Blithe, featured in "Band of Brothers," did die, but there is a discrepancy between the series and historical records. The real Albert Blithe passed away on December 17, 1967, while the series incorrectly states he died in 1948. Historical records, including Wikipedia and The Grateful Nation Project, indicate Albert Blithe lived until December 17, 1967, dying at age 44 in Wiesbaden, West Germany, from complications following surgery for a perforated ulcer. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

If a soldier is assigned to a unit that has been awarded the citation, that soldier IS authorized to wear the ribbon, even if he wasn’t physically present for the action that resulted in the award.
