CCH3 Demo (9,500 words)

The Dashingdon (hosting site) link to CCH3 is above. This is a private link so please don't share it. The demo is about a 15-minute read as it stands.

My goal is to update monthly, adding approximately 10,000 words per month.

Compared to the demo I launched in 2019, I am much happier with this one, as it jumps right into the action. Any comments and feedback will be appreciated! I will eventually make this link available to the CoG forums, but not for a while. I want to have a decent chunk of the game developed before I do that.

Enjoy your weekend!

Just noticed on the BB battle when you choose to dodge the bullets you don't get the bonus to whoosh.

I do like the ouch reset as well as the early BB battle and stat increase options. My big question is the relationships. I have some files in the 90% range, are those going to reset or have you figured out a way for them to transfer over? (To be clear I have 48 individual save files, what can I say I really like your work.) Aside from some minor spelling errors , I think I found two. the flow of the story so far is really good and jumps you right into the plot. I am wondering if you will have as many different ways through the story like in the first game as the second was pretty linear. However the second book has choices that make huge impacts in the story. (Cwomp and hede for example) also are there any chance for us to see the old characters from the last books? Specifically uni and cwamp if still Alive or our old professors. I honestly cant wait to read more as I love your work.

Ok I just want to start out saying g I get why you started over with the stats as each upgrade int the new story gives significant boost in over all power as well as how they could completely change your overall build. After all the upgrades are very significant and it's not likly you'd be the same individual you where before. I like the way the tactician and zenith path play out though am a little confused why if your dad has such amazing armor developed why he didnt use it.(maybe could be explained In Story?) Now as for transfering the stats the breakdowns actually not that difficult to figure out however implementing it would be a whole lot of work to transfer over accurately and therefore time by you better spent writing. it does bum me out some but isn't a huge deal in the long run. So let's all just say the upgrades give you a complete overhaul.

Luca, I need this sort of feedback! I want the final product to be as strong as possible, given the parameters I've set for myself (really need to get the draft finished, at least, by year's end). You're right about the primary stat bumps not working, but I've already found and fixed the problem for the next update. And yes I wanted to give everyone a clean slate re: Ouch. It will rear its ugly head again, so there was no point penalizing people further. And yes the "behind you" thing needs to be fixed. I'll figure that out. It's an easy thing to tweak. Re; the media res start, I just had to do it. I mean, the last demo started with the MC's solo journey and it just did NOT work at all. Some of the reasons are: 1) solo scenes are just so dry compared to interactions with students, professors, villains, etc. I mean, I couldn't start the story with 10k-20k words of dry material. 2) You HAVE to succeed in your path. So, given that you have to succeed, there's no tension in merely working your way toward the goal. It's a given you're going to make it. The more interesting question is, "what are you going to do with your new powers?" and 3) Starting with the journey would have made me use primary stats from the last game and I did not want to do that. I would have to have figured out all of the Pow, Zap, etc., combinations to reflect different MCs based on their archetypes without any weapons. This way, players get more time with their upgrades (instead of having to suffer through Issue 9 without them) and I can jump right into using the converted primary stats, and do the "establishing choices" scene with the Black Bullet encounter. Now, I might include some flashbacks of your journey later, but only if I feel they serve a narrative purpose. Again, bring on the brutal honestly! This is very much appreciated.

After I read it over and over, here my notes: Mechanics: so far stats increase/decrease don't work, I liked the ouch reset because ending CCH2 below 50% is very hard (even impossible without certain class and sacrificing other goals); as for the idea of changing the attributes in %... so-so, as long I don't have to check them every 5 minutes because they change almost every answer, I'm fine. Plot and writing: Liked: "Bulling" Quickie and Friendzone (they're just annoying), Black Bullet fight except one thing (see below). So-so: I got your intentions of starting in media res, but I think reducing the quest for upgrade to just one explanatory flashback is wasting a good subplot. Not liked: Ok I don't know how to soften it so I'm going for brutal honesty... the "behind you trick" during BB battle just makes no sense

Glad you like it! I'm already working on the next section. Gotta get the establishing choices done, introduce a few more potential goals, and launch into some plot twists!

The demo is super fun! I wasn't a patreon when the old demo was up, so I can't compare, but this is looking great so far :D
