I read somewhere that initially, the idea was that the AIs were using human minds to create a vast neural network for the AIs to use... but the studio thought no-one would understand it. Hence the battery idea. Ho-hum.

You don’t have to worry about Nightmares Mags since what happened in “The Matrix” wouldn’t make sense. If a super advanced intelligent race of AI machines took over the world they wouldn’t use humans as an energy source. That’s the first plot hole in this movie. In fact the AI machines in “The Matrix” use more energy to use the humans as energy source. The AI’s could just simply just use the energy they use to keep the humans incubated as their energy source. The second plot hole is the simulation in this movie’s case “The Matrix”. Know just as the first point the amount of energy wasted in running the simulation is way more energy than the AI’s get from the humans. But, the biggest problem is that the simulation can be destroyed by the humans they’re trying to keep under control. Know if we follow these huge flaws in this movie you would understand how it doesn’t make sense and it completely ruins the movie as a whole. Know the creators and the writers could have made movies about the Great War against the AI machines and a movie about being in a simulation. Which I feel could have been great movies separately but not together because of the plot holes. But Mags if you really want to enjoy accurate depiction of how our technology now can affect us negatively in the near future and have nightmares for the rest of your life. JK. May I suggest Black Mirror. It’s a great series it has 5 season but only 13 episodes and one interactive movie which you choose how the storyline plays out which effects the movie. Either way Mags good reaction. Keep up the good work.

Another movie you’d enjoy that messes with your mind is Shutter Island. It’s a bit like Inception and stars Leonardo DiCaprio. Not sure how many views you’d get but it’s a good mind bender.

It was a joy to see how into the movie you got. It was fantastic to see when it came out, and the special effects were completely out of this world. Also - Agent Smith, whom you hated so much... he went on to play Elrond in Lord of the Rings, Arwen's father :). You should also check out a movie called "Equilibrium" that came out around the same time, but got a bit overshadowed by The Matrix. It stars Mr Batman himself, Christian Bale - and also has Sean Bean, our Ned Stark/Boromir.

Definitely one of the greatest movies of all time. To manage your expectations, the 2nd and 3rd one aren't as good as this one (2nd one is fun though)

Wow. Nice. Hard to believe this movie came out in 1999. It was mind blowing at the time. It is still quite good and holds up even two decades later.

When this movie came out it was like nothing that came before it. Since then, there have been so many movies that have tried to copy the action and slow motion effects, but this will always be the original, and the best one of the trilogy by far.
