Here is my reaction to episode 8 of Haven Season 1, enjoy!

Thank you so much! Another really good episode, and a fun reaction for sure. I love the overall concept of the Dark Man and how it's a shadow connected to one of Haven's citizens, as it feels the blind man's rage because of his "trouble" that was brought out by the death of his wife. First... I like the overall trouble, and it's sad that this blind man is unaware of the Dark Man being of his own making due to his "trouble". I also think it's tragic... that in order to stop the Shadow from leaving its host, Nathan and Audrey have to place him under house arrest while he remains alone in the dark. It's a sad solution, but at least they didn't have to kill the blind man in order to stop his shadow from going around killing whoever threatens him or makes him angry, given that the Shadow can't move around without light, and has now become trapped in the dark. I really love that not only did we continue to learn more about Nathan... as my thoughts I wrote under last episode's post about why he was so afraid to get further into a relationship with Jess were confirmed in this episode, revealing that because he can't feel anything, he's worried about the physical touching within a relationship and doesn't know if he can make love properly any longer. I also love getting to know a little bit more about Audrey too. We learn that she's almost just as awkward around people as Nathan is, given that she herself has her own quirks. For one... she struggles with even the simplest of things such as being unable to remember most people's names. Mostly because she doesn't allow herself to get to know anyone. We also learn she's a workaholic, and she's also drawn to the weird as was established back in the first two episodes. While the "troubles" frighten her, they also intrigue her as well and she likes the mysteries behind them, which is part of what allows her to be so good at solving them and how to help people. Now... it's very sad that Jess was among those attacked and thankfully she survived somehow. However, being attacked was enough to spook her so much... that Jess felt like she could no longer stay. It's tragic for Nathan, because like you said... he had just begun to open up to her about his struggles and why he feels as he does, being unable to physically feel anything. But what I really hated about this moment between Jess and Nathan as she says goodbye to him... is that she basically blames Nathan for why she was hurt. I don't think it was on purpose, but she tells him that the "troubles" are drawn to him and he's attracted to the strange and bizarre cases that always wind up being caused by the "troubles". And that wasn't fair to Nathan. I could see the hurt in his eyes when she tells him this and then quickly walks away from him. And now, he has one more thing to blame himself for. I feel so bad for Nathan. And lastly... my favorite moment in this episode comes in the very end, when Audrey comforts Nathan and assures him he's not alone, and that she is his friend like he's hers. I love that Audrey assures him that their friendship means a lot to her. And then... Audrey leans over to kiss his cheek, and Nathan is shocked to discover he could feel her. I love the look of shock on his face as the realization dawns on him, and I love the look he gives as he turns to look over at Audrey once she gets into his truck, as his face turns from shock to something along the lines of gratitude and admiration. At least... that's what I sensed from this moment. And I absolutely love it. I love the idea that Audrey mysteriously is all Nathan can feel, as this only adds to the mystery behind Audrey Parker. Does this moment between Audrey and Nathan set up for something more between them such as romantic feelings like you suspected? You will have to keep watching to find out. There's so much more to come. But sufficed to say... Nathan's connection to Audrey, and her connection to Nathan runs deeper than we know. And their connection is different than Audrey's connection with Duke, and his with Audrey's. Thank you again very much! Like always... I can't wait for more!! So until your next reaction for Haven...
