Oh yeah, in Thailand being called a lady boy is definitely an insult(like being 2 spirit in native America cultures is basically the f slur). It’s accepted as a byproduct of having large amounts of “celibate” Buddhists monks around and it being common for most young men to spend some time as a novice in a monastery.
