I’m surprised Anton didn’t articulate this, but the over-the-top behavior of the left is pretty easily explained by what you could call the Counter Culture paradox. The progressive regime has ridden oppression narratives and antiestablishment sentiments to near absolute power. It is central to their ideology, and the source of its moral legitimacy. So an obvious paradox occurs once it goes from being the counter culture to The Culture, from fighting power to holding it. In other words, the left cannot admit it holds power, it must be forever the Rebels fighting the Empire. I forget who talked about this, it might have been Sailer. But it’s 100% true. So they have to become ever more shrill and overbearing the fewer and weaker the remnants of the the earlier American society become. They have to overreach, they have to declare MAGA boomers domestic terrorists, have to rail against white supremacy/patriarchy/heteronormativity/etc. The fact that they’ve abandoned labor and the middle class makes it even more of an imperative.
