2020-10-04 16:07:47 +0000 UTCYes there’s a percentage of each month’s income that is made up of youtube premium payments - from memory it’s something like 10-20% of the overall amount. So yes youtube premium gets rid of the ads but also pays the creators. Also I’ll let you know about a weird quirk on patreon. If you want to keep the comments in a thread - you have to click reply on the very first comment in any thread and then the reply goes in below the most recent response to that first comment. It’s really weird and I’ve never seen anywhere else that works like this - but just thought you might want to know as otherwise every comment starts a new thread.

I'm pretty new to using the Patreon app and despite being a tech geek replied to the audio feed post rather than the video feed post but oh well. That's really interesting about the ad blocking, I didn't realise YouTube detected them as being blocked and therefor has an impact on creators. I wonder then, if I am a paying member of YouTube premium (which removes ads) - do creators get the same financial return that they would if the ads were there?
