... that said though, Lordvessel is very literal, but it works because of the nature of Tanooki's genre but more importantly the nature of sunbros.
All Hail Sunbros... that is all.

Hm, she's a very similar style to 'The End' artist, but a strong vocalist still.
I think a lot of what let down the previous song was how literal the lyrics were. Dark Souls is about alluding to a whole picture without force feeding its participants, encouraging them to piece things together themselves. The most crucial thing is to get the atmosphere and the feel right as opposed to obvious links. This song has a strong feel though, and could easily work as a Dark Souls song on its own. Maybe if you take a motif that is strong in Dark Souls but can also be applicable to the everyday? Like here, it's fading light - but could also be kindling the flame etc.
Strong variety would help though, you don't want to have too many similar artists. I wasn't too much a fan of The End, but it was definitely a huge leap from Tanooki Suit so variation-wise it was great

It sounds good, to be honest I kinda prefer her to the vocalist for "the end soulsong"

Although I enjoyed The End, I definitely prefer this vocalist compared to Ashelyn. This song right here is brilliant and I think she would be great for a soulsong. Though as much as I love her singing I would also love to see a song that has the same energy as Lordvessel did and It seems many people agree with me.

I would like to make a suggestion on the theme of the song if she agrees to do it. How about a song about the protagonist from the point of view of the Emerald Herald? As stated above, she has the right tone of the overall environment of the world, but I think that it fits even better with the Emerald Herald.

Hmmm it's good I like it, don't get me wrong. But it just doesn't have the energy of the DS1 Soulsong. Hell I still listen to that Tanooki Suit gem.

She would be a good match for a soulsong with the right visuals and lyrics it could be a excellent song.

Definitely think she's a great fit for the soulsong archives. I love that we're building all these sub-communities off of a single game!

I think you're correct. She could make an amazing soulsong, especially with the bits of electronic ambience put into the mix. I agree with the comments before this as well, the video does make a big difference and the lyrics should be much more mysterious, as the Souls universe is.
Also, for future soulsongs, perhaps a rock/metal song would be nice, especially if paired with PvP videos or the like. I heard an incredibly good song from Hellkite Drake, called Abysswalker, and I think if they have the funds, they could produce an amazingly epic song that would fit the souls universe almost perfectly.
Granted Hellkite Drake does a lot of soulsongs anyways, but paired with an amazing video, souls will flourish.

First thing, sorry for the bad english "^^
Dark souls' universe is dark (cpt obvious on duty) and brutal and deadly and whatever ... so something with more rythmes would be better.
But still, I think this kind of song/singer can be good for soulsong, but beware to match with the video.
My opinion on "the end" was that the music could have match pretty well the dark souls 2 ambiance, but didn't matched the video. We saw dynamics/intenses fighting scenes with very slow music and i didn't really like the result.
The video was good, the music was good as well, but the two of them didn't match well together in my opinion.
What makes "lordvessel" awesome to me is that song and video are good alone, but outrageously good when put together.
So, my thinking is that you shouldn't focus on the song, neither on the video but on the matching of them.
I hope that what i wrote is understandable, sorry once again for the bad english "^^

Hey Vaati, I loved lordvessel and whenever I see 'soulsong' in my inbox i start salivating.
That said, The End was disappointing and I'd like to explain my concern
Ashelyn, and this new lass, have tremendous voices, no doubt, but The End's lyrics weren't up to the excellent standard set by tanooki suit:
Lordvessel sought out hooks from dark souls to structure itself and in so doing brought the characters of the game into stark relief
Contrasting 'hollow, I'm nothingness, all my memories are gone' with 'what have we here?... where to begin?' highlights the bland emotional tone of The End with Lordvessel's immediately characterful voice.
In both quotes the depersonalisation inherent in dark soul's cyclical ennui is apparent, but The End's baggy angst doesn't convey it with the clarity or personality of Lordvessel's natural phrasing.
Throughout, The End fails to ground itself in the souls universe and falls short as a result.
I'm not asking for gaudy fan service with meaningless namedrops and quotes. Quite the opposite, I want something that illuminates Dark Souls as brilliantly as Lordvessel.
Ultimately, I don't care who sings these songs or their genre,
Cheers

I need to add to this though - when I make a video it stays on my channel - forever. Other uploaders might be happy with uploading interpretation of the lore before it's figured out, but i'm not. For example, imagine if I told the story of Vendrick before all 3 DLC's dropped - it would end up being completely and utterly wrong. Same with Nashandra and any other characters with main storyline significance. So my plan going into Dark Souls 2 was to provide a playthrough feel with 10 things & storymode for a few months, with interpretation and storytelling based on the lore later once the DLC dropped.
Now that the DLC is coming, I can cover more storytelling topics more confidently - and you'll see that in the video about Sinh (hopefully) in 2 days time, followed by many more. I understand your concerns, but I plan to make it worth the wait! Feel free to enjoy other channels in the mean time if you're craving their storytelling, this is their time to shine.
Thanks for the support even though it hasn't been what you wanted yet. I'm glad you gave honest feedback.

Going back to those roots as the DLC drops, because Prepare to Cry is about interpretation and i'm finally confident my interpretation will be close to the truth

I don't think you're going to like this comment but,
I sincerely don't care about Soulsongs. Vaati, I pledged money to you in order to get Dark Souls content. You never made songs before hand, and I don't understand why you would now.
Based on the first one and the amount of content you have put out about the actual game, I sincerely think you're spending way too much time on these side projects.
I honestly would love to see Prepare to Cry again. I haven't and it's been nearly five months since the game was released. It's been forever since you did a Story video also.
I was hoping my money would enable you to do higher quality work and I can tell that it has in the videos you've put out. But also, I'd like you not to be distracted by normal things. You've received enough money that you don't really need to worry about anything other than these videos and this content creation.
I've watched a lot of other Dark Souls content since the release of Dark Souls 2, and you're being shamelessly beaten by your competition whom I am not supporting financially. I don't want another soul song before I see a Soul Story which I remember you promising us before the DLC came out.
I understand this takes time to work on, but I can't fathom you're truly spending your time on the videos when you're already proposing another Soul Song artist, because I know that side project is very important to you. It isn't to me however, and I know a lot of other people would prefer you to make serious lore content and not artistic side projects that have all but nothing to do with the game we've seriously enjoyed.
Remember the game, Vaati.

She definitely has killer vocals and talent, but more importantly, her voice has that soft, brooding quality that perfectly matches the disparity that is ever present within a souls game.
Although , I do think that another song that would go great in your "Soulsong" playlist would be a more fast paced song, kind of like "Lordvessel" by Tanooki suit. You know, a song that can really match the intensity that comes with every encounter within the game. That's not to say that another song like "The End" is not welcome.
Great work, Vaati!

Absolutely - I also love that you are considering a female again as I feel that women are quite under represented in the gaming sphere, so this is something against that. Beyond that, she has a great voice and I think, tonally speaking, it would be a very comfortable fit for the Dark Souls 'verse.

Artist sounds great for a new soulsong, she really picks up about a minute in. Maybe she could sing a more uplifting, motivational soulsong for the player to listen to while playing.

I love the voice as it definitely has the right tone for Dark Souls; and then when she picks it up you get to hear some fun energy in her voice as well. Definitely a nice fit.
I also agree with below, it reminded me of Skyfall with the voice.
