Crown of the Sunken King: Puzzling First Impressions

Beware of light spoilers! I managed to get in a day early and did a first impressions/review to give some information on the quality of the DLC. In short? It's great. I really liked it.

Huh how weird It only happened to me once and that at the probably 15th battle You might want to check on it again Maybe I was just unlucky

Aeto

ooh, good research! I actually got the 6 piglets on my second fight..i'm so surprised to hear it's a rare thing? I wouldn't have known how rare it is without your comment - cheers! It's such a strange thing to summon haha

VaatiVidya

I have no idea. She does drop a darkend soul so she might have something to do with vendrick. The other possibility might be because the DLC have old gone by kings as a theme elana might be that previous king and the form of Velstadt is just a cultural thing. I'll check the soul descriptions if I think of anything else I'll reply again.

Aeto

The one thing i keep wondering about that fight is why Velstadt? why not a gold pursuer, or dragon rider? Or even her own watcher and defender?

Gatlin Burnside

I have something interesting to tell you Vaati! I was farming sunlight medals inside the DLC because it was very active and as a result killed "Elana, Squalid Queen" about 30 times. She is actually quite the fun boss but I noticed something pecurliar with her conjurations. Usually there is an about 60% change that she'll summon Velstadt and an about 40% change that she'll summon a bunch of skeletons. But only once she conjured about six non hostile piglets. The same kind that have a tiny change of spawning at the „Royal Army Campside“ in Tseldora. If you are able to get footage of that it might be something for a 10 things about dark souls. I don't know how high the chances are but I give my word for this actually being in the game. Anyway, Cheers Aaron.

Haven't had a chance to play the DLC yet, but I liked it. I thought you did a great job at the review and without any spoilers. I'm looking forward to the lore vids as well. Keep it up!

My friend and i ran the whole DLC cooperatively, and it took us right around 10 hours when it was all done. It was funny watching him panic when his greatsword wouldn't stagger anyone.

Gatlin Burnside

Super Cool !!!

Colombian Cuties

Cheers Josh - I'm actually working on a story video for this week. I love the story in the DLC

VaatiVidya

Let me know what you think of it, and whether my review was on point!

you have no idea how overjoyed i am to hear about the level design. I'm updating the game now, and i just know i will thoroughly enjoy this experience.

Just played through for about an hour and a half. Really agree with you in regards to the level design. At first I was irritated by the seemingly maze-like structure to it, but then I realized I was simply feeling that way because I hadn't been challenged in a player vs. environment format like this in Dark Souls 2. I ended my playthrough near the spike pit (trying to figure out how to beat those certain enemies you mentioned...) and I was quite enjoying myself - I do agree the enemies could have been varied up, but its a minor complaint. I'm interested to see as well what answers and questions this DLC ends up providing in terms of lore, so definitely keen to see what you dig up, Vaati! Thanks for the video, as always, and looking forward to your next one.

Josh

This all sounds excellent. I think for the next DLC I will wait to play it before watching footage. I can't wait to loose myself in there and I don't want know anything about what I will be facing. Thanks for not spoiling much, other reviewers are not so kind.
