Dark Soulsong: "The End" by Ashelyn Summers

From the funeral march like entrance to the mournful yet soaring strings of the chorus, "The End" pays tribute to the themes of isolation, determination, and desperation all as an homage to Dark Souls.

Haha, that's YOUR animation, dude! And I was psyched to see it there. :D Can't wait to see what you're cooking up next. :)

Not to shabby Meh jk, I love it. Music was great, though the lyrics feels a bit forced. The cello was spark on illuminating to the touch and feel of the game. This song makes me feel desperate, though not completely without hope. Dark Souls 1 was dark because I felt like everything was lost as the world has already fallen apart. Playing Dark Souls 1 was like witnessing the final sequence of the armageddon. Dark Souls 2 however, was more like journeying through the post apocalyptic landscape (contradiction; too lazy to fix) to discover your purpose in this damned world and what else are there is left to this world that worth fighting for. Both games were full of grimy feelings, but to me Dark Souls 2 seems to more enriching in term of complexion to the story. To me, the world of Drangleic was easier to connect to because I just never been in a place as terrible as in DS1. Much of the things in Dark Souls 2 feel surreal to me, which remind me of the Clive Barker novels I read back in high school lol

Amazing!

I have to agree with both Jeff and Damien on this. Didn't quiet get the sense of a fated undead. On a side note I absolutely loved the violin and piano as well as her voice. Just didn't do it for me. Thank you though for all you do and did. I look forward to more.

I think what is ultimately lacking for me is a sense of "yeah, this gets the experience of a souls game." Maybe it was just the very elegiac sound mixed with battling against fate lyrics. And of course, the experience of a souls game is very personal for each of us I'm sure. Everything Damien says more or less goes for me as well.

Jeff

Please do not take it to heart as I am a huge fan of the work you do. It was a very bold task to take on and I do appreciate the final product even if it's not quite for me. Do keep up the great work.

Thanks Sandy! And i'm so glad I had your animation at the end to fit a gap! I can see it coming through for me again in the future :P

Thanks for being honest and polite with your opinion - I hope I can find someone in the future to suit your taste

I think all of this is really well produced as individual parts, but the combined project just doesn't quite fit. I am not a huge fan of the lyrics and I think some seem very forced. However, I have to admit Ashelyn's voice is lovely and the video was great to watch. It's a pity I am not a big fan of it, but that's probably just my taste. I still think it's a really well done job and will certainly check out her content.

Really great song, just bought it on Bandcamp as well.

Excellent job on this, Vaati, Ashelyn and all involved! It's obvious a lot of heart and...*achem*...soul went into the production. Worth the wait!
