2024 Fantasy Rankings v2.0 (UPDATE)

Okay folks, the NFL preseason has now come and gone, and I'm finally fully moved into my new place as of today.

Up above is a concept that I mocked up in photoshop for my new shooting space. Expect a build out VERY soon for that room, which for the first time ever will be a full time permanent set for me that I don't have to constantly set up and then tear down in between shoots (thank God).

It's almost midnight here over on the west coast, but I just polished off v2.0 of the Fantasy Rankings based on any further injury news we've gotten this week, as well as a bit of extra tape study on some of the younger players that I'm excited about (COUGH COUGH TREY BENSON).

I also added in position ranking tweaks for both half PPR and standard scoring formats. As usual, if you have any questions shoot them to me down below!

2024 Fantasy Rankings v2.0 (UPDATE)

Comments

Hey Brett, just wanted to thank you for the help again and here's my team. Taylor, Derrick Henry, Kelce, Nabers, Aaron Jones, McLaurin, Christian Kirk, and Burrow as my starters and drafted in that order. Got some great value according to the spreadsheet other than Nabers as Kupp got taken a pick before me.

Sebastien Encina

Mybad. But yea I took j. Chase & g. Wilson and no RB’s were left. Finished draft with warren & naji. Javonta Williams, Rico dowdle, Tyrone Tracy. Mahomes, McBride, shakir, smith-njigba. Thank you tho. I messed up with notifications off.

ChillyGilly

Daaamn I wish I seen this lol you hit it on the nail. I ended up taking jamar chase

ChillyGilly

Thanks for the reply man, big fan from Sweden. I was really hoping to pick at 3-4 this year to get Hall. Which would have opened up more paths of drafting, something like Hall-RB-WR(still a top dog) or Hall-WR(stud)-RB(Jacobs-ish). Either way, appreciate the content.

Oscar Johansson

Are these in order?

Michael Ferguson

Thank you, as always!

Dylan Cushner

I do not, I rarely need to use Office products and the annual subscription is just not worth it. Google sheets can import from Excel and everybody can use it. I’ve won a title every year since joining this group. Just would love to not need to grind out opening the document!

Matt Krontz

Hey Brett, my dad and I are looking at potential RB1s in the second round after top WR in the first round. We are arguing about picking Derrick Henry over someone like ETN or Kyren Williams. Dad is saying that he’s old and risky for such an early pick. Help me with a counter argument?

Ryan Karsten

right on. no worries and Raaaaaaaiders!

Nestor Hernandez

Thank you Brett!

Sebastien Encina

Sunday night. And all good if you don't have time. The assets you gave are already super helpful!

Michael

Workin on that right now, now that I'm in Pittsburgh finally :)

Brett Kollmann

Sure thing, I just finally got a moment to put that part together now that I'm in Pittsburgh, so I'll have that out soon. When is your draft?

Brett Kollmann

Do you have Microsoft Excel? If it's still not working, what's your email? I'll send it to you directly.

Brett Kollmann

I'm incredibly high on the Colts offense overall. And when you're taking a running back, what you're really drafting is the offensive line, and the red zone opportunities. I fully believe the Colts could average four red zone trips per game (which is a lot), and I fully believe that JT will be getting the majority of those carries down there behind a strong offensive line. He would be a potential league winner for you at the 7 spot imo.

Brett Kollmann

Get at LEAST one running back or you are going to be in a world of hurt at the 3-4 turn. There's a million viable receivers now. Wait on that position unless you have a slam dunk no doubter available at the top of the second round that can anchor you. But trust me, you will thank yourself in the fourth round turn when you see the receivers that are still on the board versus the running backs.

Brett Kollmann

So sorry that I didn't get the combined half PPR out before your second draft! Been scrambling all week to prepare for this Pittsburgh trip for the Steelers episode and couldn't grab a single moment to put it all together until right now from my hotel :( Who did you end up getting?

Brett Kollmann

In a super flex, nah I think 5th is definitely appropriate

Brett Kollmann

Chiefs are generally a 70% pass team so there's limited opportunities to begin with, plus I think Steele is going to syphon off low red zone touches a bit.

Brett Kollmann

Thanks Brett, I'm all aboard the Wicks train obviously, he's damn good

Tobias

Honestly, you did the right thing. When I pick last in the first round and I get cute with RB, I always regret it because there's nothing substantial left at the 3-4 turn. Better to just take your medicine early and get Gibbs/Kyren, knowing that you still came back with Waddle/Higgins to be respectable at receiver anyway. 12 is the hardest pick to have this year, but you made it work. Also absolutely love the Mitchell, Palmer, and Wicks picks. Those are going to pay off big time. Especially since you didn't go receiver early so you needed all the depth you could get.

Brett Kollmann

Personally I see the depth chart as just listing who is going to be in the game in "gotta have it" plays in short yardage or in the low red zone (Mostert had one of the highest shares of goal line work for a team in the entire league). But when it comes to overall touch counts, I still think it's Achane with a slight edge.

Brett Kollmann

I think Watson is the highest upside pick for sure because he is built the most like a "traditional" number one receiver and he has all the tools. But at the same time Reed has the "proof" argument because he's already done it and he has a clearly defined roll as a vertical slot receiver who runs fades and seam routes for shot plays every single week. And then there's Wicks, who I think might be the most skilled of the bunch when it comes to route running and winning his one on ones. If I had to guess, Watson and Wicks have the highest odds of being a traditional number one outside, while Reed is likely to be most "stable" option from week to week simply because of his role in the slot.

Brett Kollmann

Now that Aiyuk is locked up I think you can argue for him over Nico, but holdout hammy is a real thing. Nico is probably the safest bet out of all of them when it comes to QB, role, durability, age, etc. He's the "just right" pick in the middle of that Venn Diagram, out of the three. Also, I love Tank Dell. My only concern about him is that I truly don't know how much 11 personnel Houston is going to use this year. When they are in 12p, or 21p, I think Diggs might be on the field over him, so it just comes down to what the overall philosophy of the passing offense is....and we just don't know that yet.

Brett Kollmann

Don't neglect RB. Shit gets real, REALLY fast at that position in a league that big. Two out of your first three picks should be RB imo, and then you just start hammering receiver until the top 15-ish QBs and top 7-ish TEs go. Then you get one of each.

Brett Kollmann

Holy hell you cooked. RB depth is average but your receivers are so good it doesn't even matter lol

Brett Kollmann

Really, really love your running back room. Tons of depth there, plus obvious upside with the top three who could all be week winners by themselves. Receiver is also solid, though you are kind of banking on Nabers being "that guy" to get league winning upside out of that position group. My only real concern is QB depth if you need a matchup option instead of Purdy from week to week, but other than that this is a great draft

Brett Kollmann

From what I've heard from the people who know, he's completely full go with a very successful recovery over the spring, and they have no restrictions on him in terms of amount of designed carries (especially in the red zone).

Brett Kollmann

I've always been a bit conservative with Waddle to be honest. He's been active and only really started missing games last year, but he's always constantly playing through something and he's always banged up in one way or another...whether it's soft tissue injuries or just getting lit up and having ankles, knees, or shoulders get banged up. Love his toughness, but durability is not his strong suit and he's just not a very big guy, so I factor in that he might not play all 17 this year. Not to mention I expect a slightly regression in the Dolphins offense overall because their OL took a hit in talent, and over the back half of the year you saw defenses start to get answers to that cheat motion that they exploited so much early on. I still like Miami a lot...but we could see them come a wee bit back down to earth.

Brett Kollmann

Don’t drink when you come up the league punishment tbh lol

Carlos Peterson

WHY THE HELL is that your league punishment lmaooooo

Brett Kollmann

wow the fact that you got Marvin all the way at the 2-3 turn is pretty amazing, that's huge value. Absolutely love this team.

Brett Kollmann

I think if you REALLY need him as like a throw in FLEX it's certainly viable

Brett Kollmann

I had hoped he would narrowly avoid the PUP list and get worked in earlier, but unfortunately he didn't, so I'm just being cautious with his timeline.

Brett Kollmann

aaaah that makes sense

Brett Kollmann

crazy strong first four rounds, especially in a 12 man league!

Ryan Karsten

Any chance the final version comes out today or tomorrow?

Nestor Hernandez

Thanks I appreciate your input. I might just play it by ear. I won last season with a few picks that seemed like a reach but turned out great. I’m jus worried with the 12th pick idk what’s left at round 3 lol

ChillyGilly

love this thank you! can you do a combined half PPR view? so we can see the WR/RBs rank against one another

Michael

I hav 9/12 and hav been going WR and RB with first two picks in mocks. I go TE/QB with my 3rd and 4th pick. After that you only hav to focus on WRs and RBs after that however you see fit. I end up with pretty solid teams going 3 WRs, 3 RBs, 1 QB, 1 TE with the first 8 picks. I’m not an expert though, just suggesting

iWanna

How the hell do I open this? Every year same thing, I don't even shut off the membership just so I can look at this document one time. Google Sheets works so well.

Matt Krontz

Hey Brett, talking with some of my league mates and the vibe of the draft so far is that Jonathan Taylor will likely be there for me with the 7th pick in a 12 man league. You seem higher than most on him and just wanted your insight as to why you believe he's top 4. What's your reasoning as to why I should take him over an elite WR that could be there for me like a Jamarr Chase, JJettas, or Amon-Ra? Is it mostly positional value?

Sebastien Encina

I got pick 12/12 in a full PPR league. How should I approach this? WR then RB? WR/WR? RB/RB?

ChillyGilly

@brett - any shot you're getting out that 2.5 with .5ppr combined list today? Got my second draft this evening. thanks!

TGucci

Super flex 10 team league picking 6th, is 5th round a reach for Caleb?

Justin Cieszykowski

Likely because we chiefs spread ball out among too many people. They take pride in using around 8 different receivers/backs in a game to get a touch

Nick Sadler

Why is Pacheco so low?

Brando

For some reason my home draft was scheduled one week earlier than normal, so unfortunately missed your latest rankings. I draftet at #12 (last) for the second year in a row (rigged). Said fk it and went RB-RB to start. Missed out on a stud WR, they all went early. This is what I got: Mahomes Waddle Higgins K Williams Gibbs Freiermuth McLaurin Worthy D Johnson Brian Thomas Jr Dowdle Palmer A Mitchell R Davis Wicks

Oscar Johansson

What are your thoughts on Devon achane. Looking at the depth chart they’re still listing mostert as the starter which is worrying for someone who wants to take him early 3rd.

Krish Sadarangani

Brett, Im curious on your split with Watson/Reed/Wicks. The general fantasy and some real life consensus seems to be that Reed is more of the #1 and better fantasy pick, although I believe Watson to be the better player. Would just love to hear your thought process on the 3, thanks - A packers fan

Tobias

Brett, what does the receiving core in Houston look like? Wondering what you think about tank tell. Also unsure if Nico Colins is a better bet over Brandon Aiyuk or Mike Evans.

Ryan Karsten

It’s a keeper league which has definitely had some impact on that

Jack

look for value on bad teams — dionte johnson or terry mclaurin are good examples. Also keep Kimani vidal in your back pocket as a late round sleeper (according to brett)

Ryan Karsten

Anyone got tips for a 16 team league?

Angelo

5th Pick, 12 Team PPR League (note this league is full of Commanders Fans, so some of their players went a bit early). Thoughts? 5: Bijan Robinson 20: Marvin Harrison Jr. 29: Nico Collins 44: Cooper Kupp 53: Aaron Jones 68: Evan Engram 77: David Montgomery 92: Joe Burrow 101: Zack Moss 116: Brian Thomas Jr. 125: J.K. Dobbins 140: Adonai Mitchell 149: Joshua Palmer 164: Dontayvion Wicks 173: Jake Moody 188: Texans DST (Not sure why Brett has them so high up but they were there)

Quiznos

So far in slow draft i picked from 9th (PPR, 1QB, 2RB, 2WR 1WR/RB, 1TE, 1K, 1DEF): Gibbs, J.Taylor, Pittman, Kelce, Metcalf, Nabers, R.Rice, Javonte Williams, Njigba, Purdy, Sutton, Dowdle...

Jan Pokorný

Anthony Richardson - you seem to think he's worth the injury risk I guess. Not afraid that they will try to baby him after such a quick injury last year?

Matt Wozniak

Thanks for doing these as always! Was curious about why you have Waddle a bit lower than consensus, as he's someone I'm pretty high on. And Pitts you have around his ADP, but how come you don't see him in the same tier as the top TE's with Cousins at QB now?

Jonny

Guess who isn't taking a charter flight to Idaho for finishing in last now? This guy

Carlos Peterson

Had 1st pick in a 14 team PPR league. Thoughts: Anthony Richardson Christian McCaffrey Najee Harris Marvin Harrison Jr Nico Collins Trey McBride Terry McLaurin JK Dobbins Zack Moss Jared Goff Cole Kmet DJ Chark Jr Luke Musgrave Elijah Mitchell

Vikram Vasan

any thoughts on Taysom Hill in formats where he's eligible at TE

Kevin Leonard

Hey Brett any reason Jonathan brooks dropped a few rounds?

Quin Gorman

I'm glad you've found success! I can't seem to shake the injury bug every year lol

Brett Kollmann

There is zero chance that this roster does anything other than finish in either first or last lol. Respect.

Brett Kollmann

If it's one point per completion and minus a point for incompletions, then you really want to factor in total pass attempts too. You want QBs who play in offenses that throw the hell out of the ball with high efficiency, because you are being directly rewarded for volume + manufactured completion percentages with quick and easy throws. Dak, Tua, Goff, Mahomes, and Allen would all be monsters in this format. Probably Stroud and Burrow too just because of how naturally accurate they are at all levels of the field.

Brett Kollmann

WOW that many quarterbacks already went in just five rounds?

Brett Kollmann

Bret thanks for taking the time to evaluate and make corrections, your rankings have led me to the Playoffs every year since 2020. Your rankings are staple in the hip pocket of every draft, your work is much appreciated.

POKESOLDIER

Lucky #7, 12 person, half PPR. JJefferson, Pacheco, Evans, Leporta, Kamara, ARichardson, Zay Flowers, Javonte. Promised land or bust.

Brandon Waggener

Any thoughts on if/how draft strategy changes in a league where QBs are point scoring monsters? (6pt passing TDs, 1pt/completion, -1pt/incompletion, etc.) Does the QB position become a point of emphasis or do you just operate as normal knowing you can get 20+PPG in a later round?

Jason Bloomingdale

hope the move is going well! any names to target late round in a keeper league you like?

Kevin Paek

In a slow draft right now. I got AJ Brown Derrick Henry Breece Hall DJ Moore Mark Andrews When should I start targeting QB with Dak being the highest ADP target left on my board

Jack

Now that Kupp is fully back, I do expect a slight regression in Puka's productivity. Not a regression in how good he is as a player, of course, but I don't think they will have to funnel the entire offense through him this year like they did last year. Meanwhile, when I was at Rams camp it felt like Stafford went right back to his old habits of looking for Kupp at every available opportunity, so I don't think that connection is going away any time soon. Plus you have to factor in that I think this team is going to be EXTREMELY run heavy, considering the makeup of their offensive line and backfield. When they get in the red zone, I don't see a whole lot of TD potential for Puka...or at least not any more than last year.

Brett Kollmann

I would stick with Bijan, personally. Or Breece, if you prefer him. But I'm a Bijan guy.

Brett Kollmann

He did ironically just sign an extension today, but I've always been a bit conservative with holdouts that don't do anything with the team in the offseason. Not having a real ramp up period for them with camp and game or joint practice snaps can sometimes lead to soft tissue injuries right out the gate, so I'm just being cautious.

Brett Kollmann

honestly, I get it. He could easily go for 1200+ and push double digit TDs as a rookie.

Brett Kollmann

10/10 no notes. Couldn't have dreamt up a better start.

Brett Kollmann

Unfortunately because of my move, I didn't have time to make them this year :(

Brett Kollmann

that was my concern as well, brett thoughts?

Coleton Johnston

Out of curiosity you seem higher than consensus on Kupp and lower on Puka, any specific reasoning?

Tobias

At pick two (in 12man ppr) Ceedee now that he’s got a contract? Or stick with bijan or breece

Warner

Curious why Ceedee below JJ and Ja'Marr?

David Sutherland

Fantasy "experts" generally seem low on JT this year because of Richardson vulturing TDs and scrambling rather than dumping off to him. Do you see it otherwise?

David Sutherland

But I have him in 3/3 leagues (2 dynasty). He was such a low price. It might be fine 🥺

Matthew James

I'm overdrafting Harrison Jr. and there's not a god damn thing you can do about it.

AP

Give me a grade on how I did at 1.05: Bijan Marvin LaPorta Evans AR

5HeadTaste

Brett when is the must-draft sleeper WR and RB videos coming out this year?

Kevin Paek

It's already a 70% pass offense as it is so there are limited opportunities, and I truly do think that Carson Steele is going to syphon off more carries than people think. I could especially see Steele getting some goal line work because he's so damn big.

Brett Kollmann

I'm not touching him, personally

Brett Kollmann

Cole Kmet over 500 receiving, Anthony Richardson over 3200 passing for sure, and I would even say Marvin Harrison at over 1050 receiving is pretty generous as well. He's clearly the number one there and I expect their offense to be very effective this year. The ones I have a hard time with are all the Houston numbers. Not because everyone on that offense isn't awesome (they are), but you are basically getting NO discounts on virtually any of them. Margin for error on the others that I mentioned are a lot better. Also, AD Mitchell over 2.5 TDs and Byron Murphy over 4.5 sacks is pretty tempting too. Very high on both players.

Brett Kollmann

It's possible, but Rice wasn't even really an intermediate threat either last year. He was almost exclusively used on screens, shallow crosses, and other things that were five yards and under. If he gets touches in this offense, I think they will be more manufactured than outright "earned" through winning one on ones against DBs.

Brett Kollmann

Dammit. Thanks for the reply great info

John Altstatt

out of curiousity why is pacheco so low

Sheldon Wong

Any update on Quentin Johnston? Leave him to the waivers or take a shot in the last round? Any help will be appreciated.

@Invincible34

True enough 😂. I just drafted Allen, and Kyler in Round 1/2 in my league.

Zeo

what are some of your favorite season long plays on prizepicks/underdog

Noah Banga

Yesterday. I had a feeling you were high on nico though so I took him in the 2.12 slot

Salvador Estrada

Any thoughts on verticality being used to clear out for easier over the center options for Rice, who might supplant Kelce for that role? Don't be afraid to shut me down again 🙏 haha

Matthew James

Stability for one because we know he'll always be productive, but I think they are about to get back to the vertical passing game we saw in 2018 and 2019 when Tyreek was there. They sure seem to be building their receiving corps for it at least. That was when he was really at his best (fantasy wise).

Brett Kollmann

Honestly I'm just not super high on him this year. Feels like his skillset doesn't quite match up with the vertical nature of the Chiefs passing game that I think they are trying to emphasize this year with Worthy and Hollywood. I feel like Rice might end up being the 4th option there in a hurry.

Brett Kollmann

noooooo you drafted already?!

Brett Kollmann

if I had to guess right now it's gonna be a 50-40-10 split to start, but they are going to run SO MUCH that 50% of their carries would still be equal to 60-65% of a lot of other teams.

Brett Kollmann

Thanks! Love your work!

Abdul Malik

Honestly in 2QB leagues, it's justified haha

Brett Kollmann

Let me whip up a v2.5 that has that tab on it, my apologies

Brett Kollmann

Might not make it out for week one, but definitely will be hitting up Thunder Alley for several games this year :)

Brett Kollmann

Just doing my best to stay above water this time of year lol

Brett Kollmann

Jonathan Taylor Marvin Harrison Jr Josh Jacobs CJ Stroud Terry McLaurin

Brett Kollmann

Benson is a dawg. Great vision, super explosive, and a true three down threat. Conner still has juice, but I think Benson is going to steal a lot more touches than maybe we all thought at first. The preseason film was genuinely impressive, even with what I would consider below average run blocking up front for him.

Brett Kollmann

Why Patrick so high?

Joe McCullough

Is rashee rice placement still factoring in a suspension? He is very low (12th round)

Matthew James

1 day late 😭

Salvador Estrada

do you think dobbins will take 60+% of the load in LA or will it be more of a split between him gus edwards and maybe even the rookie?

Noah Banga

“Patrick Mahomes round 2” from the guy who took him #1 overall

Zeo

Hey Brett, how do i compare positions for half PPR. I don’t see a Combined tab for half PPR.

Abdul Malik

Appreciate you man! These also are helpful for Waiver/FA post draft! 🍻 Will you be at Week 1 charger game tailgating? I need to have a shot of whiskey with ya!

Jacob Rodriguez

Brett, should us Conner owners be worried about Benson? What did you see on film?

John Altstatt

from the 1.05 what's your ideal draft rounds 1-5?

Coleton Johnston

You absolute legend
