Progress Report - 07/20/2020

I'm just wrapping up the first scene. It is one of three important events that's happening at the end of Act 6. The second half of this Act is going to focus on Byron and Penny. We're also going to see more of Faith and Merc.
I have something big planned for Penny and the end of Act 6 is going to be the spark for it. It's going to take me around three to five weeks to get Act 6 finished so we're probably looking at an early September release. But I'm going to try to get it out faster.
So that's the end of the progress report. Now I'd like to talk to you guys about something that happened one week ago.
Just as I finished up and posted my progress report last week, I was notified that the F95 Featured Game Slider had been updated. If you don't know, F95 is the main website where I upload Avalon's updates and communicate with fans and potential fans. The Featured Game Slider displays 15 of the most promising up and coming developer projects. It's a constant promotion for your work. I was positive that I was going to have a spot on that slider.
It turns out that I did not get a position on that slider. And I did not take the news well. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. As the days went on, I'd see the slider all the time and I was constantly reminded of my failure. I couldn't concentrate on Avalon because I was depressed and angry from seeing that damn thing. In order to not be constantly reminded that Avalon isn't an up and coming favorite among the F95 community, I've decided to distance myself from that website. This isn't a boycott or anything like that. I simply need to step away for my own mental health.
It's been about five days since I've logged on to F95 and my mental well-being has increased dramatically. I've been more productive, I feel better and I'm more confident about my work. I'm human and it seems my sin is Envy. Instead of cursing myself and wishing I was someone else, I'm going to take the measures required to combat my shortcomings. Right now, those measures include limiting how much I see of other's success so I can focus on my own. This probably isn't permanent, it's just for now.
So if you're leaving me comments on F95 and I'm not responding, please find me either here or on Discord. I'm always happy to chat with fans.
This progress report should be called "The Venting Report". Anyway! Thanks for all your support and your understanding.

Didn't get a look at all the games on the slider but I do remember about half and I know all those games have been around alot longer than yours so I wouldn't worry. Maybe next time.

Some of the games on F95 are written with terribly broken English, bad plots and seem to do rather well, so I'm gonna say people are going there primarily for porn as well. You might consider putting your game on Steam once it's finished. I'm betting it would do well there.

I should probably search for a site that's more oriented towards stories rather than pornography. I'll begin the search! And this doesn't mean Avalon won't still be on F95, the mods will keep my page updated. Thanks for your support, Kal!

2020-07-20 15:50:38 +0000 UTCI wouldn't worry about F95. A lot of people there are really looking for porn-focused games and care less about the development of an actual story. That doesn't mean there aren't those of us who prefer a good story foremost and the porn secondarily. I wouldn't have found you without F95.
