Ridley Scott is such a great director. You should check out "A Good Year" which reunited Russell Crowe and Ridley and is hidden gem of a Romance.

+1 for The Last of the Mohicans (1992)

Enjoyed your reaction. Liked your outro. According to the wishes of Marcus Aurelius in the movie, Lucius or no one would be emperor. Instead, Rome would be a Republic ruled by the Senate and there would be no emperor. Joaquin Phoenix is a crazy good actor. As you indicated in your outro, he was stunning in this. His character's sister (Lucilla played by Connie Nielsen) was pleasant to look at, and was convincing in her feelings of terror. She plays the same character in Gladiator 2 (2024). Of course, Russell Crowe nailed his character from beginning to end of the movie. By the way, as you may know, Normal People (2020) (1 season) is an awesome series -- Paul Mescal is good in it. "Strength and Honor" "What we do in life, echoes in eternity." “Commodus is not a moral man." "I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Gladiator 2 had a HUGE 'private screening' here on the 14th lol I 'take' each movie as an adventure into a universe unto it's own. I was only able to 'listen' a bit since I'm here at work lol

Thanks, Camilla. That was a fantastic reaction to a great movie. I really enjoyed watching it again with you. List of gladiator types: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Roman_gladiator_types If you haven't seen it already, please consider adding The Last of the Mohicans (1992) to your watch list.

Thank you for your reaction! This was my first time watching, as well. I have no idea if the story was based on fact other than I know that Germania was one of the outside invaders of the Roman Empire. I really liked the imaginative gladiator battles. Who can forget that famous line in "Airplane" (1980) when Captain Clarence Oveur asked, "Joey, do you like movies with gladiators?" I have not watched any trailers but my prediction is that "Gladiator II" (2024) will once again feature gladiator battles in the arena. If not, then someone screwed up during the title naming process.
