Hello! We have a fantastic new Threat for you this week, The King in Shadows, but before we get to that, we want to encourage you to join The Gauntlet Discord server. The Gauntlet Discord server is the best place to stay in touch with the entire creative team at The Gauntlet. You can find it here.
The King in Shadows is a new Threat for The Between and it attached to this post. It was written by Alex Rybitski, with additional contributions by Megan Caldwell and Ben Bisogno. It features art by Amanda Lee Franck and layout by Ben Mansky.
The King in Shadows may sound familiar to you if you have some experience with our other game, Brindlewood Bay. It's essentially a version of the mystery Exit Stage Death but for The Between. It tells the story of a strange, haunting play that is changing London, a la The King in Yellow. It has a dreamy, cosmic horror quality that we think you're going to love. The Threat is also has presentational and mechanical aspects that other Threats don't have. Given that, we decided to have some fun with the layout. Our new layout artist, Ben Mansky, did a fabulous job translating the themes of the Threat into the design.
We want to share a little bit of news for Gauntlet Publishing. One bit of news is not good: Gauntlet Publishing had been a two-person operation for most of this year, but is now back to being a one-man operation (Jason). Jason is looking for a new partner, so if you know someone who would be interested in working on project management and/or editing, please get in touch.
Other news: we have three big games in production right now, all of which you will get advance copies of in the new year for being a Patron. Those games are: Arkham Herald, a game about newspaper reporters in 1970s Arkham who uncover a Cthulhu mythos conspiracy while chasing down stories about serial killers and gang violence; Public Access, a horror game about a strange public access television station, inspired by creepypasta and urban legends; and The Silt Verses RPG, which is the tabletop roleplaying game for the award-winning podcast The Silt Verses.
Stay tuned to our Patreon feed for all our new releases. Coming up next week is a brand-new mystery for Brindlewood Bay!
As always, thanks so much for your support.
