This episode encapsulates well how important "promises" are since the very beginning of the series, to Emilia. It all traces back to this time era, when Fortuna teaches her how important it is not to break a promise. It's like how in one of the failed loops in season 1, when Emilia died in Subaru's arms, giant Puck appeared and blamed Subaru for several things like letting her die and being late but also including "you don't seem to realize how important a promise is" Also why Emilia vent her anger on Subaru for breaking his promise in season 1 when he stormed in the castle with Priscilla, instead of staying with Rem. That led her to break their relationship back then. And in season 2 that night, when he left to write those words in the Tomb instead of staying near her bed with her. That led hear to not believe a single word he was saying about loving her, until he actually proved it through the kiss. She was always angered by broken promises. Another fun thing to notice (if you know Japanese or are told to look for it) is how Fortuna has a quirky way to say "sugoku" (which means "really") she often says it stretched like that "suugoookuuu" and you can notice Emilia says it in the same way since season 1, despite her memories being locked away. Some things just don't get forgotten, further proof of how important of a figure Fortuna is to Emilia.
