Podcast #316 - Questions Wanted!

Hello Friends!

We're all set to record another podcast but would love some more questions from you lovely lot. This is for the TripleJump Podcast! Remember, as our esteemed financial supporters, we'll be exclusively coming to you for weekly discussion topics, so please read the following guidelines before submitting:

- No controversial or naughty questions please

- This is a video game podcast about video games so please keep the questions video-game-related

- Going forwards, we'd love it if you can base your questions on any video game news that drops in the week. It doesn't just have to be big serious stories though, so ask us about anything you find on the web. While we will still answer non-news questions from time to time, we're hoping that with a different focus we can avoid repetition.

- If there's a particular event or happening in the industry that you'd like us to discuss in detail, feel free! We like to address one 'big question' per week to headline each show, and pepper in smaller questions throughout

- Try to avoid topics we've covered before

- "Questions on a postcard" (don't make your question too long!)

- We typically record on Thursday morning, so try to get your questions in by Wednesday afternoon!

Thanks all! We look forward to reading through your offerings, and we can't overstate how much we appreciate your support on Patreon and elsewhere!

love ya <3

Hi BAP: I identify as a self hating American ;). Let me start by saying sorry to the peoples of the world. We are kind of being "wankers" right now. With threats of tarrifs and counter tarrifs flying daily, I have been daydreaming a lot about global free trade; which I believe in very strongly as a way to level the playing field and give everyone a chance for stability. From a consumer of games perspective, do you think free trade might not only benefit consumers by helping to control rising prices but also encourage cultural creativity in game design? I sometimes worry that globalism might harm cultural individuality, even though I belive in the economic benefits of equal opportunity. - Much love from the Jolly Green Giant

Hi B_P! The final Switch 1 Nintendo Direct takes/took place this week. If you happen to record after it, reactions and impressions welcome, but if not this question is mostly about the Switch 2, now that we're entering the final few days before (hopefully) learning all about it on Wednesday. Nintendo are famous for hedging their bets when a new system is coming out, continuing to support their older systems for a short time just in case the new one really fails to take off. See: the DS as a "third pillar" to GameCube and GBA, or continuing to make new 3DS games for years after the Switch came out. With one more Direct focused entirely on Switch 1, plus mentions that Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Z-A will be Switch 1 games (along with whatever was in the Direct itself), it feels like they want to try and do this again. While we know the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible, does it hurt the potential of the new system's launch to know there's a slate of upcoming games you won't actually need it for?

Alright BPAJs (I’m adding James in). I’ve been jet setting about a lot and that got me thinking about how gaming can be a really unifying force globally. It’s something I’ve been able to chat about whatever continent I’m on. Do you have any favourite international gaming moments, from buying fake Pokémon cards in a Spanish market to that one cheerful Russian dude who always popped up in the lobby just when you needed him. Thanks, David

Hey gang! I got into No Man's Sky during the pandemic and stopped playing around 2022. When I upgraded to a PS5 earlier this year I noticed that it was offered as a free download which I took advantage of to see what they have updated and now have almost 100 hours logged. Do you have any games that you find yourselves going back to after years long breaks?

Hey Guys, Happy stone cold podcast episode The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) - the same organisation that used to run E3 before it was cancelled - has announced the Accessible Games Initiative, a cross-industry campaign to provide consumers with clear information about the accessibility features available in video games. As someone with friends who need accessibility to play games, this is a great move and something that will help, what are your thoughts and what accessibility options do you use ? https://www.pocketgamer.biz/esa-launches-accessible-games-initiative-with-support-from-industry-leaders/ Kind Regards and a Hell Yeah Cameron

Hello BAP (or BAP's permutation of this weeks podcast), In a recent interview with TV writer Ronald D. Moore about their new God of War Amazon series, Moore said they "never really played the games". Do you think the writer of a series based on a video game should be a person who played through said game, or passing knowledge of the lore should be enough? Can you really get the feeling of a game without playing it - even if you have a team around you and access to all the inside material? https://kotaku.com/god-of-war-tv-ronald-d-moore-battlestar-galactica-1851770751 Thanks for all you do!
