Podcast #311 - Questions Wanted!

Hello Friends!

We're all set to record another podcast but would love some more questions from you lovely lot. This is for the TripleJump Podcast! Remember, as our esteemed financial supporters, we'll be exclusively coming to you for weekly discussion topics, so please read the following guidelines before submitting:

- No controversial or naughty questions please

- This is a video game podcast about video games so please keep the questions video-game-related

- Going forwards, we'd love it if you can base your questions on any video game news that drops in the week. It doesn't just have to be big serious stories though, so ask us about anything you find on the web. While we will still answer non-news questions from time to time, we're hoping that with a different focus we can avoid repetition.

- If there's a particular event or happening in the industry that you'd like us to discuss in detail, feel free! We like to address one 'big question' per week to headline each show, and pepper in smaller questions throughout

- Try to avoid topics we've covered before

- "Questions on a postcard" (don't make your question too long!)

- We typically record on Thursday morning, so try to get your questions in by Wednesday afternoon!

Thanks all! We look forward to reading through your offerings, and we can't overstate how much we appreciate your support on Patreon and elsewhere!

love ya <3

Hi BAP, Not sure if this will be in time for this week but I've just seen Microsoft announce Muse where they suggest Generative AI is going to support game deyin the future. Obviously they try and put a positive spin on how this will make things better and easier for development teams, when remastering and even developing new games, and I am excited about the aim to preserve older games and bring them to current systems. But I fear this is a slippery slope and will lead to more job losses of talented developers and also a move to cheaper homogeneous games that will start to all look and play the same as AI is used more and more and the finance people see bigger returns on smaller investments by using this to churn out game after game. What are your thoughts? https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2025/02/19/muse-ai-xbox-empowering-creators-and-players/

Hi BAP from the Pacific Northwest! Why is everyone playing Avowed in first person? I find the gameplay in third person to be very enjoyable, although I haven’t yet tried any advanced weapon combat, the magic combat is great. And it seems no one is bothered like Cyberpunk when only seeing our characters in cut scenes. Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi BAP, I've seen that Rockstar have been discussing with user creators to allow them to bring their own creations to GTA 6 allowing them to build their own custom experiences within the game modifying it's assets and environment al la Roblox and Fortnite. The cynic in me sees that as an easy way for them to monetize others work for their benefit allowing them to rake in even more cash than GTA online with even less effort, making me doubt there will be any meaningful dlc, so after the single player story is done that's likely it for me until GTA 7 in 2050 or whenever. Hi BAP! **this question was asked in a fit of confusion upon reading the original reports of this news. It now turns out this was nowhere near the scale I thought but I'm keeping the question up for posterity** Feels like a long time since a round of gaming industry layoffs has been a surprise, but NetEase has managed it by wiping out the Marvel Rivals team. This seems to go against even the awful logic that informed most of the previous layoffs - the game being one of the few live-service success stories recently, with a massive yet healthy community and lots of growth still to come. If this is how the industry works now, where regardless of the quality of your work you can be thrown out afterwards to save the company a few quid, why would anyone pursue a career in game development at the moment? Is it easier to imagine a world where the whole industry goes belly-up than one where the people responsible for the games themselves are treated with respect?

Hiya BAP! I saw this post from Bethesda announcing a partnership with Make-A-Wish to create an NPC in Elder Scrolls 6- https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BaPDCnZeD/?mibextid=wwXIfr I thought this might be a good candidate for weird news and potentially a talking point for where you three think the game is in regards to development.

Hi Guys Phil Spencer said he's not trying to move players all over to Xbox anymore with his aim being to allow more people to play Xbox games on other systems. Is this statement the final nail in the console war which imo has been over for some time ? https://www.eurogamer.net/xbox-boss-phil-spencer-says-hes-stopped-trying-to-move-all-players-over-to-xbox kind regards Cameron

Hello, once you BAP you can't nap. Civ vii. It's been an expensive and very poorly reviewed release, but, I don't think it's the worst one. However, gameplay wise so much choice has been removed from the player. No more workers, tiles just improve themselves as the city grows, just about winning a protracted war then suddenly, new era begins, new civ, unsatisfying conclusion to hours of play. For a game about how would You control a civilization it's now more watch how your computer would control a civilization. Why has choice been removed? Thank you.
