Mostly. The first 9 jerseys, 1-9 correspond with the fielding position they play as every position on the field has a number. If you have a single digit jersey that means you are the main player for that position on the team. If. Zono plays first, first bases number is 3 so him being #3 means he is our main first baseman. When you get into the teen numbers that structure can change more depending on what back up players you have. So Sawamura is 18, 1 is the pitching mound and 8 is center field but because we don't really have a dedicated back up center fielder, there isn't anyone else who needs that number so it's given to alternative pitchers. The same way Nori is 10 because it isn't needed anywhere else. I hope that makes sense.

is that why the jerseys are numbered 1-20?

Copied from my comment on episode 69 (nice):
“4-6-3 double play”
Ok I’m back to explain baseball terms again so: each of the 9 positions on the field are numbered.
1- pitcher
2- catcher
3- 1st base
4- 2nd base
5- 3rd base
6- shortstop
7- left field
8- center field
9- right field
The order which the ball is thrown in the play is normally written with the numbers in a scoring book to simplify it. So a double play fielded by the 2nd baseman (4) and thrown to the shortstop (6) who then turned it back to First base (3) would be written as a 4-6-3 double play
