The dragon you saw was Vermithor. Vermithor is biggest and oldest dragon after Vhagar his rider was king Jaeherys. Daemon can’t claim him as you said cause a dragon rider can only claim one dragon but he was basically singing to him to get him on their side so the greens won’t be able to claim him. The episode also showed the bond between a dragon rider and their dragon with Rhaenyra when she gave birth her dragon felt her pain. Luke’s dragon got scared because Luke was terrified. And Vhagar felt Aemond hatred toward Lucerys but I guess Aemond underestimated Vhagar. And also Viserys said « the idea that we control dragons is an illusion » I don’t know if you remember that. Daenerys said the same thing « a dragon is not a slave ». It shows that at if a dragon wants something his rider can order him to obey but he is not going to. They have their own mind and free will. But in the book Aemond really wanted to kill Lucerys. He said something like « I’ll have your eye or your life »
