You gotta have even more respect for Coach Kataoka, because not only is he still believing in Eijun, he did so much by taking away a spot on the roster for him. Hes not in the stands he's just a bench player. The simple fact that he did that cemented this coach for me!

He didn't have to make that promise to take them to nationals. He did that on his own. My issue isn't that he wants to raise an ace, it's that he came in and immediately turned biased from the gate. Didn't give anyone who is struggling in a trying time a chance. It's literally weeks after the summer tournament and he's already labeling people as useless. That's not a good coach. That's not a fair or logical process.

As much as you can dislike Coach Ochiai, i think you should also try to understand and see his viewpoint. His ideology and principles are completely different from Kataokas, and weather we like it or not Coach Ochiai is the more experienced coach with more achievements. He promised the school that he would take them to nationals, and he is betting on Furuya to get the job done more so than anyone else. While i also completely disagree with him throwing away a full tournament for the sake of 1 player, i can also see his viewpoint of investing in his future and trying to fulfill his promise of taking them to nationals. Just because we disagree with him i don't think we should keep a closed mindset and dial it as "i don't like him" but more as "i don't agree with his ways" while trying to understand them. Makes for an interesting situation no? Especially because Kataoka is still planning on leaving until further notice, so we have to understand or at least try to regarding our new assistant coach, potential new coach.
