“4-6-3 double play”
Ok I’m back to explain baseball terms again so: each of the 9 positions on the field are numbered.
1- pitcher
2- catcher
3- 1st base
4- 2nd base
5- 3rd base
6- shortstop
7- left field
8- center field
9- right field
The order which the ball is thrown in the play is normally written with the numbers in a scoring book to simplify it. So a double play fielded by the 2nd baseman (4) and thrown to the shortstop (6) who then turned it back to First base (3) would be written as a 4-6-3 double play
