2021-10-19 17:26:17 +0000 UTCAlso if you're in the stretch position like Sawamura was, if your knee goes past parallel and crosses in front of your other knee, you're basically saying that you've committed to pitching and are no longer eligible to stop the pitching motion under any circumstance.

2021-10-18 23:18:46 +0000 UTCIt was a double play because the ball bounced right in front of him and happened to bounce right into his glove. also here is the rule for a balk which advances the runner if you do that in a game. So basically if you start your pitching wind up like you normally would and you stop during it for any reason its a balk. Sawamura doesn't know this so he does his normal form and just throws to the runner. To do it legally all you have to do is turn and throw it without doing your normal pitching motion and it's fine.
