The reason Thorfinn is so fixated on revenge more than Canute is because the death of Thors happened when Thorfinn was very young. It's an event that morphed him into who he is. On the other hand Canute lost Ragnar older and while undergoing character development so he was able to make a mature decision.

In your intro, I just realized something. We see Thorfinn, who is actively seeking revenge over and over and over to no avail, and he practically lives for vengeance, to the point that he has no idea what his purpose in life will be if and when he avenges his father. MEANWHILE, Prince Canute out here setting as fucking EXAMPLE for the little angry boi by not even lifting a finger against Askeladd for killing Ragnar. But instead having him repent by serving him. I like how there are a lot of parallels between Thorfinn and Canute, but then we see the contrast in how they handle Askeladd killing their father/father figure.
