Normally I'll start with roughly shade rendering on a skin or whole body to know value&volume first and leave the eyes in coloring process but a "certain senior R18+ artist" give me an advice that I should fully rendering the eye in greyscale too to get a feeling of the character and Wow! rendering the eyes in greyscale is really easier and faster and I can overlay it to get a proper color later! ^^
