Barely Sunday Update 03/22/2020 - Also a word about HCD

This week I did some UI improvements, some bug fixes, and rebalancing for the holiday event.

I've changed most of the main menu's to be more in line with the streamlined settings menu.  This should make the UI more polished an professional, avoiding the issue of oddly sized buttons on each sub menu. There are still a couple menus that need a touch up but the work is mostly done.

I also rebalanced the holiday event. As many players pointed out, some bots are not easy to lose to. They also happened to be, by coincidence, the first two bots in the event since the original order was simply the bots in alphabetical order. The new order is Fredrika, Foxy, Mangle, Puppet, Bonnie, and Chica. This should make the difficulty curve a steady increase.

I also programmed the dialogue in the event to branch based on the color blindness setting. Now Feste will conveniently misplace the colored presents when encountering a player utilizing color blind mode.

Long winded post about a game most of you have never heard of incoming:

Finally there's been some discussion in the discord recently about H-Core Dungeon. There's probably a good amount of you that aren't familiar with it, but it was the game I was working on immediately before starting this Patreon. Since it wasn't as popular as FuckNAF it consistently lost content polls and ended up on the back burner until I picked up development full time.

However, while it was on the back burner Patreon changed their enforcement of the rules to prohibit hypnosis content. H-core dungeon doesn't explicitly feature hypnosis content, but its lore would have been that the dungeon "corrupts" its denizens which could be considered tangential enough for me to necessitate some lore changes to remove any trace of dubcon.

Patreon has continued to change their interpretation of their rules and I don't feel that HCD could ever have a home on Patreon without serious censorship. They have recently interpreted human-anthro scenes as "beastiality" so from my perspective there's no reason why they wouldn't see human/goblin or human/orc as beastiality as well.

FuckNAF/FuckNAF2 should be fine since there's only one living organism in any of the scenes and if need be I can add cat ears to the meat sack and call him anthro. HCD by design doesn't have that flexibility: if a race is determined to be incompatible with human characters it would be a significant content loss as they would need to be completely removed from the game.

Beyond this they have also struck down creators for characters that they could interpret as underage. I was very conscious of this when making goblins in HCD so I gave them ridiculous proportions (read: breasts that are 50% of their body weight) and included a mechanic that involved each of the characters canonical age of 18: a goblin with a 30 year lifespan would start with more experience as they were middle aged while a human would start with less experience as they had just reached adulthood. With how unreliable Patreons interpretations have been recently, it's not clear what is and is not okay. Goblins may be out of the question simply because they're 3 feet tall.

I appreciate Patreon's service immensely, so I truly regret that my design choices for HCD would be too constrained by Patreon's censors for me to attempt to publish it here. With that being said there is another revenue stream I have in mind that I can offer content on without censorship. There's some back end reworks I need to consider but the goal would be that a single pledge on the new site would get you access to all my content including FuckNAF and HCD, while Patreon would remain a revenue stream for only content they approve of.

These are plans for well into the summer, HCD will still be a hobby-project of mine while I consider FuckNAF content my full time job.

P.S.:
I also want to make it clear that I'm not mad at Patreon, or trying to incite any negative sentiment towards them. They have a tough job balancing their relationship with their creators against what can get them into trouble with their payment processors or even governments around the world. They try their best to work with creators to meet the  requirements they feel are necessary. This is simply an explanation of why this particular piece of content will continue to be absent from Patreon.

Comments

It's unfortunate. For me personally I'll just have to operate on two fund raising sites. Patrons shouldn't have to make any sacrifices beyond changing what URL they go to. Patreon will be losing out on the patrons who decide to move to the new platform, so at the end of the day they're the ones incurring the biggest losses.
