Something important about $1 pledges
Added 2019-09-19 21:22:13 +0000 UTCHi all,
First I'd like to say thank you all for your continued support, as well as extending thanks to the pass support of those who may have withdrawn for any number of reasons. Knowing that there are people out there who enjoy my work and are willing to support me is still something I've really yet to come to terms with here, and is indeed something that has given me light when I've been at my lowest.
I've been thinking about renovating this Patreon page - it's getting a bit aged, the bio is a tad sloppy. I've updated the goals to provide some better context, but there's a difficult idea I've been wrestling with as well: Pledges and tiers.
For the past several months, a number of people - patrons, non-patrons, and ex-patrons alike - have approached me, advising me about a so-called "two dollar rule". It goes like this:
- If you pledge $1.00, I get 67 cents. Patreon takes 34% of your money as a transaction fee.
- If you pledge $2.00, I get $1.64. Patreon now takes just 18% of your money as a transaction fee.
Proportionally this will lower transaction fees and means more of your money is actually going to where it will go. Sounds like a good idea.
Of course, the reason I'm making this post is because the inescapable truth of that is that I'll be doubling the cost of entry for 9 of you who opted for $1/mo. It's not something I want to do lightly, nor is it something I'd want to do without your input, so I want to hear your input on this.
I've created a poll attached to this post about raising the bottom tier to $2. Please answer honestly! Your input's valuable, and anonymous as well. No hard feelings. Of course, if you have other comments or suggestions to make, feel free to make them.
Besides that, I'm thinking of adding another tier (or tiers) which will grant free sketches of your choosing per month. I'm still working out the specifics, so stay tuned.
I'll get back to this commission now, though. Once again, thank you all for your support! It really does mean a lot to me.
