December channel update

Hi everyone, and welcome to summer! (Or winter for my northern hemisphere viewers) Also a big hello to all the people who have signed up since the release of the 40,000 video, it caused quite a spike in new memberships - welcome aboard!

I was hoping to start this update off by saying I'd recorded the Werribee line voiceover and had begun the editing stage - however on literally the day I planned to do that, I started feeling unwell, and later tested positive to covid. Despite being up to date with my booster shots, it really hit me hard this time and I've been basically out of action for the last 8 days, unable to really look at my computer or write anything. I'm close to recovered now, by my voice isn't really ready to do an hour+ of recording, so that will still have to wait a few more days. I'd really hoped to get this video close to finished by the end of the year, but now that's only 29 days away, that's looking a little unlikely.

While sick, I was watching a few overseas railway videos, and feeling a bit nostalgic for my pre-kids trips to Europe. I haven't previously made any proper videos out of those trips, largely because I wasn't doing much filming back then, mostly focusing on still pictures. However I realised that one place I do actually have a decent amount of footage of is the Schynige Platte Bahn in Switzerland, which is a fascinating little rack railway which uses ~110 year old electric locomotives, and I started going through my photos and footage from the two times I've been there, and began writing a script about it. I imagine this would be a relatively short video, but should be a bit of fun and a good little tester to see how my audience responds to a video from the other side of the world.

Once Werribee is out of the way, I'd like to finish off the Adelaide fleet video I've been taking about for ages - it doesn't need too much work, and it'll be good to cover another Australian system. It'll be a similar format to the Melbourne fleet video I did a while back, focusing on the suburban railcars from the Redhens through to the current EMUs.

There are a couple of other side projects that may or may not turn into something and pop up in the meantime.. we shall see!

Oh yes this picture - this is me 'touching off' at Williamstown using a pre-1985 Edmonson ticket. I was really hoping to get hit by ticket inspectors so I could try to show it to them, but none appeared.

Thank you all for your ongoing support!

It probably won't be very soon, but yes I'd definitely like to do a Ballarat line video eventually. :)

Hi Taitset! I love watching your videos! Can you do a video on the Ballarat line?

Jack Miller

the swiss video would be super interesting

Nuts! COVID is never fun to have! Make a speedy recovery! As an Adelaideian, I'm looking forward to the Adelaide Fleet Video! I feel like the easiest way to describe our current fleet is basically the opposite of Melbourne's, in which we got electric VLocieties, and Diesel Comeng's. Can't wait!

Looks like a nice morning for it! Yeah Patreon doesn't seem to allow direct image comments annoyingly.

Warrnambool Up train 0924 today if anyone is interested. https://imgur.com/a/pEwpEFK Edit: there isn’t anything set up for us to post things like this?

Garth

Thanks for posting and get well, I've been sick myself. Following on from the other post I made VLine Timetable for Warrnambool line just after I posed in the other thread. The two that stable in Warrnambool overnight will be N-Set and the rest will be VLocity and only 3VL no 2 X 3VL only single set. We getting a 4th train on Sat and Sun. Still maintaining 5 on Week days. Weekdays 2 Trains leave the W'Bool stabling and only 1 will on Weekends. https://corporate.vline.com.au/Network-Access/Network-service-plan And only 115km/h running which is the same as N-Set - Booo.

Take it easy Martin: it seems Covid19 is reappearing with a vengeance... Hope your recovery is swift. 😉
