Could be totally wrong here, but I don’t actually think Edge or Jeff were really hurt here, I think it was just a way to take them out of the match. Also to answer your question, yes, someone can take down the briefcase and then hand it to you, because James Ellsworth, a jobber who got really over whilst being squashed by Braun Stroman, who was subsequently released, and then accused of some weird stuff, but anyways, for a while in the WWE, he was paired up with Carmela, and he took down the briefcase and handed it to her in 2017
