2025-04-11 14:11:20 +0000 UTCYear 1, Ronda loved it, she lived the lifestyle and embraced the culture, and protected the business. She worked her ass off, put on great matches, had awesome feuds. Then her return happened, she wins The Rumble, and she just didn't care as much, cause she wanted to be home and do this part time, be with her family (all of this she expressed). So, she half-assed a lot of her matches, only showing up for the high-stakes ones, and the final match with Shayna, she wanted to put her over on the way out. Vince had that idea, and the producer behind that match didn't live up to what we knew both could deliver. Then Hunter and Shawn came up with The Pit and The Underground, and I was like, they should've just done that. Anyway, Ronda remains in my top five. I genuinely love the person, and that first run was iconic, her second run soured a bit. Can't wait to see you watch her debut. It's amazing.

Becky was technically meant to be a heel but the fans found her new attitude badass. Charlotte had been betrayed by her best friend and lost the belt to Becky after in a 3-PPV long feud. Charlotte did seem to be at breaking point when this happened and was probably doubting herself. Ronda had debuted less than a year prior (8 months) and had had few matches. She had her debut tag match at mania and then she pretty much immediately was placed in the raw title picture where she ended up going through Nia Jax, Nikki Bella, and Alexa Bliss to be Raw champion. Not sure why but crowd pretty much flipped on her when Charlotte attacked her after their match. I think it was a combo of the crowd being so hot for Charlottes performance and the fact that crowds are just fickle as they can’t seem to keep their attention span going past 5 seconds and constantly switch up on performers. This would eventually be part of the reason that Charlotte, Becky, and Ronda would become the first ever women’s main event at wrestlemania later that April. Ronda turned “heel” (really just had an idgaf attitude going forward) and was upset that the fans cheered for Charlotte as she brutalized her. I believe the build to the mania triple threat and all the threads they managed to weave was pretty great but unfortunately the actual match fell flat. Also Ronda was pretty consistent in my opinion until she had left and had a baby and I believe the company might have asked her to come back sooner than she wanted to after giving birth (had the baby in September and returned the January afterwards). She just always felt like she was kinda a step behind what she was in her initial run but I think she still had some pretty good matches during her 2nd run, even if she wasn’t as consistent in ring or promo wise.
