I don't really watch stardom regularly, but Mayu is awesome and it would be cool if she could face Iyo and Giulia again in the future.

2025-02-14 22:11:14 +0000 UTCYeah, this was the conclusion to the Io vs Mayu trilogy. A pure pro wrestling story of two wrestlers going from good friends & teammates to all-time rivals. This was all about Io going on to become a very dominant champion & the face of the company while Mayu had to really prove herself to show that she was on the level if not better than Io (Kayfabe-wise but also reality-wise). One of the reasons why I love this trilogy is because of how they told the story in the ring throughout all the matches. The little details such as body language, mannerisms, the type of matches they're trying to produce. Also, similar to what you said at the end that Io had more of the offense/shine and was more dominant in their earlier matches, while in this final match, Mayu was able to be more on the offense & Io looked a lot weaker compared to before. After this match, I think Io was actually suppose to go to America and debut in the WWE. However, I believe she had a history of neck injuries and WWE didn't want to risk signing her. She instead stayed in Stardom but eventually was able to debut in WWE in 2018. Her goal I believe was to show the world that she wasn't just the best in Japan and that she can succeed internationally. She went on to win the top championship in the WWE's womens division and walked into the grandest stage of them all with it (Wrestlemania). Mayu I believe would have a rocky road as she would eventually end up injured after a couple of title defenses. However, even if she may have dropped the torch for a bit, she managed to pick it up again, let people know that Stardom was still gonna be good even after Io's departure, became the icon/face of the company, helped shaped it to where it is today, & pretty much is in GOAT conversations for Stardom. She also went on to win the IWGP Womens championship (NJPW title) and walked into the grandest stage of them all with it (Wrestle Kingdom). I guess you can say this story ended in a happy ending for the both of them.
