The key difference in in-ring styles between Baba and Inoki is that Baba was conservative, basically maintaining old-school wrestling with minor adjustments. Inoki was a radical innovator. Inoki introduced more entertainment based American-style storylines (NWO Japan etc.), the cruiserweight division and shorter matches in the 90s. Inoki was more successful. The companies following Baba's philosophy (NOAH) managed to get the upper hand in the 2000s when Inoki made a disasterous attempt to jump on the MMA boom. NJPW became the #1 promotion again in the 2010s due to NOAH falling into scandals and NJPW going away from Inoki's MMA obsession at that time. Modern Japanese wrestling is now a blend of both their approaches. And the difference between American and Japanese wrestling is also way smaller since Japanese wrestling has influenced modern American wrestling.

2025-01-05 02:42:03 +0000 UTCI'm glad you enjoyed this video. It is definitely a lot and I don't expect you to remember everything ๐ i think relationship wise you already good the gist of it. As far es Baba returning to the jwa after Rikidozans death, you have to remember, that the WWWF at the time was just one territory. One of the most Profitable one's mind you, but Baba did Not Just leave what would be WWE money today. Baba in dead always seemed like the chill and trustworthy one, among the American Talent He was always beloved because you could always trust His word. Stan Hansen for example worked all his Tours except the very first one on a handshake basis.

2025-01-04 19:35:05 +0000 UTCNot all wrestling fans care enough about it to learn of its history. Props to you, Tally and the Patreon for wanting people to learn more about wrestling's history, as you already know from Dark Side of the Ring, is a wiiiiild ride.

2025-01-04 19:13:18 +0000 UTCOn the terminology for Sumo Wrestlers: "Rikishi" is the standard name, it literally means "Strong Warrior" and is used only for Sumos. Typically left untranslated. "Sumotori" is used interchangeably and means "Sumo Practitioner." "Osumosan" is used when speaking to a specific Rikishi and means "Honorable Mr. Sumo." The Sheik (Usually called "The Original Sheik" retrospectively to avoid confusing with the WWF's Iron Sheik) was Sabu's uncle and trainer, he was a really big deal in the territories.
