Normal people when they meet their idols: “Oh my gosh I’m such a big fan! Can I get a picture?” Asuka: “I want you to beat the crap out of me.”

2024-12-07 03:21:44 +0000 UTCGotta say that it did get uncomfortable when Suzuki threw out Meiko to keep beating on Asuka That's when it got too uncomfortable for me personally That being said Asuka put in a SPECTACULAR Babyface performance here, by the end she's dead on her feet and her ankle is wrecked after the submission and she still faces Suzuki head on with no fear What a badass lol

2024-12-06 05:56:02 +0000 UTCI was looking forward to watch you guys react to that Suzuki murder scene 😁 I remember a while ago seeing somebody posted the video without context & there's the whole Suzuki discourse on X given people not knowing Asuka personally asked Suzuki for the beating (much to his hesitation at first) Hope there will be more recommendation of Suzuki matches here, the man is LEGIT. They don't call him "Murder Grandpa" for nothing, like he's someone i would prefer not to f up with either in the ring or in real life (behind the scene he's pretty wholesome though, he's a big fan of One Piece)

2024-12-06 05:37:49 +0000 UTCI guess maybe because I assume this is planned the match didn't bother me, even as a female. I was a little uncomfortable with the finisher, mainly because of the size difference. I can see how this would never go over on a US TV show, or even a ple. If it was done, I see it more likely aew rather than wwe.

2024-12-06 04:37:13 +0000 UTCGlad you guys enjoyed it! For sure uncomfortable, but like you said, very easy to get invested. Don't have much more to add to this beyond what I said in the submission, but I do think it's pretty funny that when Asuka books herself, she essentially books herself to get squashed. Just a neat little detail. I promise my next submission won't be as heavy, lol.

2024-12-06 02:48:14 +0000 UTCI think it's quite clear why the requester pointed out that she booked it and that they are on good terms. 🥲 Because the match otherwise reads quite different as it was intented to be controversial and evoke discomfort among the audience. Basically to make the audience feel as though Suzuki is going into business for himself by striking her much harder than men tend to do in intergender matches.

2024-12-06 00:03:00 +0000 UTCI haven't seen a lot of Kana (Asuka) Japanese matches, but I've seen a couple and from what I can gather is that Asuka's WWE style is very different from her style in Japan. While she's still a submission style wrestler in WWE, it's a lot toned down compared to her in Japan which I assume because it's harder to keep an American crowd (especially WWE) invested in a submission type of match (and obviously brutality is toned down and the way a match is produced will be different as well). I've heard of this match before but this is the first time I've seen it. I definitely understand that it's a match that would make a lot of people uncomfortable and may not be for everyone. However, I personally really liked it and it continues to make me understand why so many people in the wrestling community praise Asuka and why her signing back in like 2016 or 2017 was such a big deal. She's a very psychological wrestler that I feel tries to make her matches make sense logically to get you invested, a true technician wrestler imo. I hope you guys eventually end up watching Asuka vs Ember Moon - NXT Takeover Brooklyn III. It's probably my favourite Asuka match in WWE that really showcases her technician side along with Ember's great selling.

2024-12-06 00:02:21 +0000 UTCSo in Japanese wrestling there’s what are called ‘produce shows’. These are shows basically staged by one of the bigger wrestlers in a particular scene. They’ll fill the show with their favourite wrestlers from different companies. and the wrestler that arranged the show will often be in the main event. This will often be in a smaller venue with a very passionate crowd. These shows often have a very fun vibe and an identity deriving from the person that staged the show. There’s kind of a celebratory atmosphere and usually a fair bit of variety (often a bit more silliness than a traditional show). Some of the most acclaimed matches of the year can also come from these produce shows. Anyway, this is from one of Kana’s. I think she did a few. You’ll probably get recommended more produce show matches in the future, and imo, they’re one of the best features of japanese wrestling.

2024-12-05 23:20:07 +0000 UTCOh, it's that one. I know it's a work and Asuka specifically asked for him to make it look good, but 😬
