So there's this game design essay jam happening on itch.io, and y'all know how much I love a good game jam. I've seen a lot of folks in the Blades in the Dark community puzzled about how to start making their own version of this game. There are a lot of moving parts and it can be quite intimidating to start, make changes, and charge money.
So I put together this little... Essay? Zine? Presentation? It's meant to help folks when they first start hacking Blades, and covers some basic tips and resources that have helped me in the past. That time when I first started work on Neon Black feels... forever ago. I hope this helps some folks get started. It's been a wild and educational ride.
It's free so everyone has a chance to pick it up.
As for everything else, I can just about see the end of this version of Neon Black on the horizon. Just a few more things I want to add and change to the manuscript and then it's off again to Evil Hat and then who knows. This paranormal RPG I'm working on with some other designers is really taking off. There's even talk of publishing it as a zine, which would be fun.
Hoping to tackle some smaller projects in the new year, though with everything that happened in 2020 it's hard to plan too far ahead with confidence.
As always, thank you so much for your support. It means the world.
