Roman Reigns Leukemia & Remission Announcement

I want you to listen to the crowd at the start of the leukemia promo. That crowd was ready to boo Roman out of the building, but he didn't speak to them as the Big Dog, he told it to them straight that he was just a man who had cancer and could no longer fulfill his job duties, and the crowd gets hushed. For maybe the first time Roman gets to speak freely on the mike and he cuts a damn good promo and the crowd really rallies behind him, forgetting that they hate his character. It took a literal health crisis to truly turn Roman Reigns baby-face for the crowd.

And how quickly he came back

I remember watching both of these on YouTube well. I haven’t watched these since they happened and they still make me tear up. Ambrose was still in WWE when Roman announced he was in remission. They wrestled together at the Fastlane show that the logo was on the bottom video tron during the second video.

I remember it too

Because Vince was just really bad with stories that involved any nuance at all.

Yeah the night he announced the cancer they had Dean turn on Seth to close the show.

Josh Tiley

Also many genius people 🙄🙄 didn’t believe that he had cancer because he didn’t lose hair. 😂😂🙄🙄👍👍

Some people never really liked the Dean heel turn that happened later that night. I belive the turn itself was brilliant, but everything after was a total mess. I honestly don’t know how Vince managed to ruin that

I was at a raw weeks after his remission speech and I saw a sign that basically said “it is ok if we boo Roman now” Lmaooo 😂😂😂

This was a very uniting time for wrestling fans in my experience. Roman as a wrestler and character was not very popular with most of the online wrestling community but the response to this was almost universally that they wished him well in his battle and that they were hoping he was able to return soon. The remission announcement was very relieving. It was nice to know that he was able to come back and do what he loves to do. I feel like this whole situation helped humanize wrestlers to a lot of people. It's definitely one of those moments where it felt nice to see the community come together about something.

Something happens at the end of the first video on Raw that I was going to put in but it would’ve been over the time limit. I won’t spoil it in case it gets voted or suggested later. As for Deam Ambrose, WWE put him in extremely bad storylines, he was still in the company and The Sheild had one last match together at Fastlane in 2019 facing Bobby Lashley, Baron Corbin and Drew McIntyre. Sorry for the downer. Also you are saying the name right.

Oh i still remember clearly that night, what a rollercoaster of a night. Roman announced his leukemia & later the same night in the main event, Dean & Seth won the tag belts... only for Dean to suddenly turn on & brutally attack Seth. Like the crowd was feeling down from Roman's announcement, then came alive for Dean & Seth's title win only to be heartbroken immediately the very next moment

I swear was Dean on that stage??? With them. I swear I remember him coming out too.
