Their champions were working other promotions, with the belts, but it had stopped functioning, AEW bought them at that point, Funny thing Vince never thought much of ROH but TTT did. But this is the time Hunter was out after his heart surgery, so he wasn't active and WWE made no attempt to go after the company.

2024-08-09 17:36:30 +0000 UTCROH was it's own company until march of 2022 when AEW owner Tony Khan purchased the company. This took place in April after ROH had been on hiatus since the pandemic. The reason this was such a big match was because these where two of the best tag teams of the past decade. The Briscoes are one of if not the biggest tag team to never wrestle for WWE and where ROH lifers so no one expected this match to ever happen. That was until FTR left WWE and since that day everyone dreamed of this match. Sadly Jay Briscoe would pass away a little under a year after this match from a car crash. TBS didn't want the Briscoes on their channel due to some comments they made in the past that they both apologized for numerous times and felt horrible that they ever said. So sadly we where robbed of ever seeing them on AEW together
