2024-10-06 06:27:15 +0000 UTCRKO and neckbreaker are two different things. RKO is basically a backwards neckbreaker. The proper term for it is a cutter. If you ever see Cody Rhodes codycutter is basically the same thing as an rko except he jumps off the rope to perform it. Cody's variation is basically a springboard cutter while the RKO is a variation of the grounded cutter. Neckbreaker is where the opponent does it from behind.

2024-07-26 06:26:59 +0000 UTCFor the question if the RKO is a neckbreaker, I would yes but no, as the person doing the move does the same motion but the opponent lands on their face for an RKO (a cutter) and on their back for a neckbreaker. It's the equivalent of a ddt and a scorpion death drop. Also, I understand being pissed at the ending but for me it felt like WWE did that shit so often in the late 2000s but worse. The referees would count the 3, look away to call for the bell, turn back to raise the hand of the winner and then notice the foot. Which would annoy me cause the ref wouldn't know if they put their foot on the rope after the match. At least here he immediately notices so I understand him cancelling the decision and continuing the match.

The missed tag spot isn't as common any more, but the long sequence of the heels isolating one member of the face team, eventually leading to the other member getting the "hot tag" and running wild is iconic.

So people already knew that if the ref called off the pin, it gets called off. This match was designed to crush the hopes of fans to get them starving for a rematch where the baby faces wouldn’t get screwed. Great booking!

AEW doesn’t enforce any rules, that way there can be constant action. If you care about matches making sense, go into AEW tag matches with an open mind cuz you won’t find much sense there. REALLY fun to watch otherwise. 👍🏻
