Sneak Peek: Quest Pack #9 update: Star Monsters

Hello Secret Door Club!

We wanted to give you a quick peek at some of the monsters we're introducing with the next Quest Pack. The pack is going to be all about the titular Stars of the Sea, and introduce the MONSTROSITY that's been growing underneath Lostman's Drift.

Defeating the monstrosity will become the ultimate goal of the campaign, and all of the main quests the player characters will undertake in ACT2 will lead them back to this monster, time and time again.

The monstrosity can infest creatures with its spores (as shown in the star crabs playtest diary), creating a wide array of mutated monsters (some examples of which you may find in this month's request thread). Aside from that, it can manifest several unique star-monsters, and those are the ones we are highlighting in this post.

Star Slug

A tiny and beautiful creature whose main purpose is to sneak up on unsuspecting creatures and inject them with star-spores to begin a star-infestation. The shards on its back are glittering pieces of fey glass from the broken spell cells that formed the Monstrosity.

Star Mass

A wild collection of star-speckled tentacles. These are the main "soldiers" of the monstrosity, if there is such a thing, and are fierce combatants. They can grow multiple tentacles during combat, and shed them to spawn Star Slugs. A dangerous foe that should not be underestimated.

Monstrosity Tentacle

A far-reaching tentacle of the Monstrosity itself. The massive foe will spawn tentacles to attack threats that come too close to its mass, and can replace tentacles that are hewn down at incredible speed. When a tentacle of the Monstrosity reaches for you, you should run away. The Monstrosity cannot be defeated in direct combat!
